  1. I was tearing down an old rickety greenhouse and loading it onto my pickup. Was at it for 2 full days whacking it with a hammer, crowbar and sledge. Three days after my arm is in excruciating pain and there is no strength in my right arm or hand and everything from the elbow down is numb. They can't pinpoint the problem after MRI's and ultrasounds etc etc. Bottom line is I have been unable to do anything because they don't want me making what they don't know is wrong, worse Overnight, everything changes and just being able to the tiny things is a big thing. Unable to do anything on the Chrysler since October So, you bet, if you are enjoying things now, damn well enjoy to the hilt.
  2. I bought gas today for $99.9 cents per liter. Last weekend it was $105.9 per liter. We are being ripped off big time but we do nothing about it.
  3. I wasn't in favor of this but after seeing these pics it seems like a good way to strip away the dirt and grime to see what's really left of the old girl. Interesting pics. Thanks, Ed
  4. Your right Fred, I was thinking kilometers and typing miles!!!! Calgary to Kelowna is actually 625 kilometers or 380 miles. Kelowna will be into spring in about a month...and I'll be there for some of it. Love that place.
  5. Glad you got it done, Tim...looks good. Thanks for the orchard shot...I'm jealous. No orchards here, but there are lots 650 miles west in the Okanagan Valley.
  6. This thing is just a hoot...gave me shivers:eek: http://www.hotrod.com/featuredvehicles/hrdp_0803w_1929_model_a_touring_car/index.html There is a video at the bottom of this page that will make the hair on your neck stand up.
  7. Based on the news we get from the States, there are thousands of free houses:eek: I know it's not true, but is it really as bad as we are led to believe?
  8. Welcome! Don't let the computer scare you, join in anyway...some of us don't bite
  9. Tim, thats looking good...don't see white stuff on the ground, so that's a bonus. Is all that open area in the back yours? I hate to think how I would fill that up if I had it. We woke up to -2f this am and it will warm up to a high of 29f today and a heat wave of 33f tomorrow. Lots of white stuff on the ground:( I was in a new residential area here yesterday and the guys were all at work bundled up like the Michelin man, high temp yesterday was -2f Love those air nailers...like a kid with a new toy! I often wonder what my grandfather would have thought of them. He could drive in the biggest nail with two, maybe 3 whacks of the real hammer at 75+ years of age. Good luck with the building, Tim (is that Tim from Canada helping out?)
  10. Heck of a good idea, Jeff. Thanks for sharing that one. It should be stickied for future reference. We need a WikiP15D24 site:D
  11. Reply to an email I sent to the seller: "good observations, yes it is a canadain car, thats where im from originally~" Good eye, Bob:)
  12. I wonder if the stuff they make for domestic use is the same junk they send here?
  13. A few pics by a local photographer of our last day or two: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sherlock77/
  14. Have a look at this kit: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dyndetail~Z5Z5Z50000278a~Z5Z5Z5AAAQL~P359.95~~~~S27R03VLEH68146115414x~Z5Z5Z5~Z5Z5Z50000278a
  15. According to my 1949 Chrysler Parts Book, Canadian P17, P18, D31, D32, D30, S13 and C45 use 6 rods of the same part # (954446)(1112764)(1112765) The US built cars use one part # for 1,3,5. and a second part # for 2,4 and 6: 1,3,5 US built Part # 954376 are for D29 and D30 2,4,6 US built Part # 954377 are also for D29 and D30 1,3,5 US built Part # 1115901 are for P17 P18 D31 D32 2,4,6 US built Part # 1115902 are for P17 P18 D31 D32 as well (Also, all of the 8 cylinder cars used two part numbers as well, 4 of part #954436 and 4 of part # 954437)
  16. I have 8 good nonsagging hinges and 4 nonsagging outside handles on my DeSoto parts car, one of the main reasons I bought it.
  17. WWAAYY to big for hockey pucks:eek: The deep snow will hide some now for a while:D
  18. Yes, there was the '72 Chevy Van and the trip down I-15 heading to California in the summer of '76. Made a stop in Salt Lake City, got a motel room to wash the big hunks off and rest a day or two. Not sure about now, but holy smokes what a party town...we stayed for 8 days...and it's a "dry" state:eek: That old Chevy van would have some stories...I know I do:D
  19. Once upon a time many years ago I was looking at a '56 Caddy 4 door on a used car lot and the salesmans sales pitch was, and I'll never forget these words, "That back seat's so big, you don't even have to bend your knees to **** your girlfriend!!" He was dressed in a plaid polyester suit with a mile wide crocheted tie as well. I passed on the Caddy but I was left with that seared into my brain:eek: (it had a heater under the front seat, too)
  20. I did the frozen dog land mine removal a few days ago before the snow started Been snowing steadily for a couple of days, we woke up this morning to a fairly heavy snowfall predicted to last the day for sure. Minus 18c for a low tonight, more snow...yuck Gotta go look for the snow shovel extension cord
  21. Heater Control Valve
  22. Norm, it works very well. I just have it on the doors at the moment and the doors have a nice thud when they close instaed of the tinny clang. I don't have to crank the radio up so loud. (it's called "Peel and Seal" in the US) I still want to do the floor and behind the seat and maybe some expanding foam between the two roof panels. I may spring for Dynamat for the firewall and floor...very expensive up here.
  23. I used the sticky sided roofing rubber as sound deadener in my old Ram pick-up. Huge 50 foot roll by about 30 inches wide for $50 can. It's been in for 2+ years now and so far no problems. At first there was the used tire smell inside the cab but it only lasted a week or so. The price of Dynamat up here is like gold, so this stuff is way better than nothing. For more info on other types of insulation and sound deadner: http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/
  24. One of the first things they tell you about antiques like that.."Don't Clean Them!!" Sometimes cleaning can devalue an item 90% Unlike our old cars where the "patina" is consisered ugly. Go figure...
  25. I'll have to measure the shaft today. I was planning on swapping an M6 in where the 3 speed once lived. There may be a problem I didn't measure the shaft of the standard 3 speed and I gave it away last year.
