  1. Welcome!!! Nice to have another Albertan on board. How about some pics? There were several slight differences between the "smaller" Plymouths and the "bigger" Chryslers. There is also a very slight difference in the "steering knuckles" or spindles as well. They still interchange and can be used on the Chrysler. I have RustyHopes disc brake kit for my Chrysler and had to use Plymouth spindles. They fit fine and are only slightly different.
  2. I get people rolling their eyes at me and my Chrysler all the time. They think I am crazy for wanting to put the old wreck back on the road and even crazier for spending money on the boxy, slow, ugly old car. Why not fix up a Challenger or a Mustang they say. I just smile and leave them shaking their heads. And they never again get to visit my garage or borrow any tools which are there. I'm way to crazy to borrow tools from.
  3. I drilled the top one, then used an old big flathead screwdriver and wedged it out. Didn't bother with the bottom ones, they came out with the king pin which was driven out by a drft being hit by a very BFH.
  4. We have a check stop twice a year mostly to check larger trucks for mechanical issues. They stopped a brand new Kenworth tandem axle tractor, something they don't normally do as new vehicles are generally OK. This particular one had gotten on the road without a single chassis bolt being torqued...spring shackles...U-bolts...steering box...motor mounts...cab mounts...anything that bolted to the frame. And it had been on the road for a week!!!! Just about have to check everything and take nothing for granted.
  5. http://www.housetrucks.com/ Also a book from about 1978 or so by Jane Lidz called "Rolling Homes" is very good...I have one that is quite well thumbed through.
  6. A very interesting book/DVD about some unique and unusual homes on wheels. http://www.douglaskeister.com/id13.html
  7. Thanks for the post. I had never heard of anything like that before. I have a question...What is the copper line going into the filler tube for?
  8. The rod part # sounds familiar: http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=7463 From the last post by James: "Went out on the vintage powerwagon site and found that the 954428 rods fit the 251 engine and will be of no use to me."
  9. I don't think it is really possible to restore it. Every part would have to be replaced which makes it a different car, not restored. Put it on tour as is for a while and then...who knows...somebody will want it. Use a big a$$ tow truck with a big a$$ push bumper to push it across the stage at the next Barrett-Jackson.
  10. Thanks for sharing that, Pete. I, too, have met a few of these heros while driving for the local Handi-Bus company. Meeting these little guys and girls changed the way I look at things entirely. And you never forget those brilliant smiles that light up the day, literally.
  11. Looks like the rejected cast of Oceans ONE
  12. The one that gets me is an old one called "Patches" by Clarence Carter. It came out just as a good friend's dad died. My friend was 14. I don't hear the song much anymore but it still brings me back. Rodney, glad to hear I misunderstood and you got to spend much more time with Mom and Dad.
  13. Here's one. They sure are nice. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220193227376
  14. Australian Dodge. Kept the pic for the Roo Bar. I want one someday.
  15. Norm, I have always liked those Mercs. Unlike my Uncle who bought a new one in '57. His one and only new car. He drove it home for lunch after owning it only a week and it spontaneously combusted in the driveway:eek: . Faulty wiring. He replaced it with an even nicer 56 Cadillac Coupe DeVille:)
  16. As long as nobody hurt, cars can be fixed.
  17. Bump again for the New Year. I'd really miss this place, so please consider a donation if you would miss it too.
  18. The Yahoo discussion boards are quite confusing to me. Don't know whether I'm coming or going or which post belongs to which thread. They are far from user-friendly like these type we have here, thanks to GTK.
  19. Wow, Rodney...Mom and Dad both and you were only 12? That must have been a tough time for you both. I'm glad to see you came out well from a bad situation. I have a friend who had a similar tragedy at 13 and he did not handle it well at all. Has had a hard life since due to drugs and alcohol and fighting. Makes me think how lucky I was. And still am, really.
  20. Well, we here in Western Canada aren't doing too badly right now. Nice and "warm" if you can call hovering around 32f warm I see by the news tonight that Fred and his fellow Manitobans are in a bit of a deep-freeze We have very low humidity out here and being born and raised here, I thought I knew what winter was. That is untill I spent a couple years in Winterpeg. When they say that the corner Portage and Main is the coldest place in Canada, they are bloody serious!!! I also experienced real humidity for the first time, both hot and cold. It was unbearable,,,along with the Bell 47 sized mosquito's:eek: I'm a wimp and came back to Alberta where winter is a bit more sane. 10 months of winter and two months of bad sledding
  21. It was with tongue firmly planted in cheek that I posted my letter of good fortune.
  22. Wise fellow, your Dad. It's my experience that almost no-one follows that rule. Squabbling over estates makes lawyers rich unfortunately.

  24. If you belong to any yahoo Groups this is important... Sharing a tidbit of information: Yahoo is now using something called "Web Beacons" to track Yahoo Group users around the net and see what you're doing and where you are going similar to cookies. Yahoo is recording every website and every group you visit. Take a look at their updated privacy statement: 1. http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy 2. About half-way down the page, in the section on cookies, you will see a link that says web beacons. Click on the phrase web beacons. 3. That will bring you to a paragraph entitled "Outside the Yahoo Network." In this section you'll see a little "click here to opt out" link that will let you "opt-out" of their new method of snooping. 4. Once you have clicked that link, you are exempted. Notice the "Success" message on the top of the next page. Be careful because on that page there is a "Cancel Opt-out" button that, if clicked, will *undo* the opt-out.
