Demo run at Brands Hatch Motor Racing Circuit (UK)
Robin (UK) replied to Robin (UK)'s topic in P15-D24 Forum
No Greg, It's a vintage Clymer helmet, from California. Here's a picture of me wearing the helmet at Pendine Sands. And an original Floyd Clymer ad from 1956. -

Westach. I ordered mine with a special instruction, requesting an all-white pointer. It matches the original gauges really well. I also bought their bullet mount and painted that to match the steering column. Very pleased with how it looks and works.

Demo run at Brands Hatch Motor Racing Circuit (UK)

Just the Indy circuit, Simon. Although we did go round virtually the whole Grand Prix circuit to enter and exit the track, as there was racing taking place as we gathered. -
Just got back from a great day at Brands Hatch, where I was able to take my Plymouth round the circuit a couple of times, as part of a demo run by the Vintage Hot Rod Association. The meet included a round of the Nascar European Series, so there was a big crowd. Great fun. And the first time I've run the car with open headers... https://youtu.be/VJa6yEcdRAM

Really enjoyed our cruise around London, Brent. And I'm looking forward to tasting that Oregon coffee!

A zany mash-up of action shots from ATOMIC - the Vintage Festival that I organise in the UK. Hope you enjoy this...

SimonTiki's 1950 Dodge and Buick John's 1947 Chrysler business coupe at a show last weekend. I'd been looking forward to seeing these two cars for the first time, and they didn't disappoint...

I just spent a very pleasant couple of hours enjoying the company of Brent B3B, on his last evening in the UK before returning to Oregon. It was a shame that London's weather didn't allow us any top-down motoring, but we took a trip around the West End to see some sights. It's always great to meet up with Forum members. Have a safe journey home, Brent.

That's such a great timeline. Thanks for sharing.

Here's another, for sale in Blackpool. Judging by these pictures, it looks like the answer is 'no', Simon... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1950-Dodge-Wayfarer-2-Door-Sedan-/331530869645?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d30c79b8d

Hi Guys, The shift-rite operates like the horn button... The single wire is a live feed. The contact is normally open. When the button is pressed, the circuit closes to ground and allows current to flow. When it's released the circuit will open again. To engage overdrive (and keep it engaged) the overdrive needs a constant supply, so... The momentary contact of the shift-right needs to be used to trigger a latching relay. The other side of that relay will then open and stay open, or close and stay closed, to supply the overdrive. I hope this makes sense.
-
Hi Mark, Hi Lloyd, My relay works great but I'm afraid I can't give you any idea of the internal workings of the 'magic box' as it was built by an electronics expert and supplied sealed and ready to go. If you're stuck, I can try to contact the guy who made it to see if he's still making stuff. I believe he was only doing this sort of work on a part-time basis and it's quite a few years since I got mine. Chris is just about to fit his overdrive and managed to talk me into letting him have my spare Shift-Rite knob. I believe he's going to try to wire it via a 6V VW headlight latching relay. I'll report back on here when I get news of how that has worked out for him (should be in the next couple of weeks).

Pass! Try the guys at Fat Fendered Relics. http://www.fatfenderedrelics.com/ I've had a few pieces from them and they've been really good to deal with. And I'm definitely an idiot... I'm English!

I always enjoy these 'rides' in other people's classics. Thanks for sharing.

Nice work, Mark. Looks like I'm going to have to get to work on my flyers again. At this rate, anyone who was coming to our UK meet will be flying out to join you guys instead!

Hopefully there'll be another chance for a P-15 line-up at Wheels Day. Dean and I will be there. Pete? Simon?

There are 5, Don. The single on the grey car is short. Keith's not driven his on the road yet, but we took him and his friend out for a blast along the country lanes and he's already planning to 'pep up' the motor... so there'll be 6 pipes before too long!
-
It was Keith's farm, Greg. It's quite remote, so no locals to react, but mine and Chris' cars definitely caused a bit of a stir on the way there and back!
-
Chris and I drove our cars to meet Keith, today - he's the new owner of the grey RHD P15 convertible which was sold at auction late last year. We're guessing that this may be the first time ever that three P15 convertibles have been seen together in the UK. Here are a few snapshots.

I just searched this again and found some very interesting information... Thought to have started life as a consular vehicle in Indonesia, this Plymouth was worked over using Jaguar front and rear suspension, brakes and diff, with a Chevrolet 327 cubic inch V8 and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. In the 1980s, surfer Dick Ash used the Woody to promote his Okanui brand and Shannons' Tiny Hansen says it was driven by Midget Farrelly, Nat Young and Bob McTavish. Should you buy the car, mention Prestige Motoring and Tiny will throw in the GOSURF number plates for free.
