  1. Just came across this picture of Dean getting out of the traps ahead of Chris in his convertible...
  2. Perhaps green for Dodge, orange for Plymouth? Can anyone confirm if my bezel is correct for Plymouth?
  3. I have this reference picture posted (I think) by Bob T some time ago. The arrows look like they are orange. Green would look good, too, though. Can anyone else solve the mystery?
  4. Hi Guys, I have re-wired and repainted a factory turn signal switch for my Plymouth and plan to fit it soon, together with a replacement steering wheel that I've had for years. I also have a dash turn signal indicator bezel, but I'm not sure if this is a Plymouth or Dodge part (I believe they sit at different angles). Attached some pictures. I need to make amber lenses and a bulb-holder. Can anyone confirm that this is a Plymouth part? Thanks. Robin.
  5. It's really hard to find assembly line pictures - I've only ever found a couple online - so I thought I'd share these, from an original factory tour souvenir booklet, printed December 1947...
  6. From the Rodder's Journal website...
  7. Thanks Bill, I heard my car was featured but I didn't know I'd got a name check, too. That's really cool! I now have my race pass for this years Pendine Races, - last weekend of June - where I'll be up against Dean's P15 2-door sedan and Chris' P15 Convertible ... both of them running for the first time. My prediction is that Dean will win the class and probably take my record - but at least it will stay 'in the family'! We are all looking forward to it.
  8. I can probably help. Just drop me an email. R.
  9. Claire was great. Always love The Doggone Honkabillies' shows. Fully understand about the camping. There are LOADS of local hotels, though, so you'll be fine. There's a list on the ATOMIC website. You can email me any time, for info: Robin@RockTheJoint.com Here's a picture for you...
  10. I'm a bit biased, Trojan - I was running it! But the feedback has been incredibly positive and there's a real buzz about the event. There's no video of the two Plymouths on YouTube, but here's a clip I just found of a couple of rods on the strip...
  11. Dean and his P15 sedan get a namecheck in this report... http://www.vhra.co.uk/VHRA/News/Entries/2014/5/10_ATOMIC.html
  12. Welcome back to the fold, Al. And thank you for your kind words. Let's see some pix of your new rides. Please post to my Plymouth and Dodge facebook page, too. Hope to catch up soon. Robin.
  13. Here's a picture for you. This was Chris' and Dean's first run...
  14. I loved watching Chris and Dean racing each other, and a range of other pre-49 cars, in their P15s. These drags were 1/8th mile, flag start, on the taxiway of an historic airfield... so it doesn't get much more authentic than that! Looking forward to coming up against both these guys at the VHRA Hot Rod Races on Pendine Beach, next month... See you on the sand!

  16. Definitely... I'll drive you around London, to see the sights.
  17. My car was originally supplied with two-tone bedford cord (factory option) , but it had been replaced in the 1970s/80s. So I decided to go with standard factory spec for the re-trim.
  18. I got my car back from the trimmer today. Very pleased with the new seat upholstery. It's red leather and tan bedford cord - close to the original specification for a P15 convertible.
  19. 42 Dodge... Nice! I'm in the UK, so I have to rely on my mirrors when the top's up on my P15 convertible, because we drive on the 'wrong' side of the road. I fitted a pair of swan-necks to the tops of the doors. Both are visible from the driver's seat and they fit well with the style of the car. I have stuck a 4" round convex mirror onto the passenger side, to give a wide angle view. it's great for helping with vision when pulling out to overtake. here's a link... http://www.est1946.com/so-calswanneckoutsidemirror.aspx
  20. I've seen this listed before, a couple of times. It was described as a theatre prop - and perhaps it was for a stage production of Sunset Boulevard - but my guess is that it's in no way connected with the original movie. When the film was shot, the Plymouth convertible was just an average used car. And it doesn't feature heavily in the movie, so there would have been no need to make a replica. I think the seller is trying to make this look way more important that it really is.
  21. Hi Guys, Can anyone give me an insiders tip on how to stitch the straight lines into 'cord' fabric? The problem is that if the line is slightly out of true, the parallel lines in the fabric seem to exaggerate the error. How does anyone achieve straight lines? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Robin. Attached a picture of what I'm trying to copy...
  22. Nice work! We set ours in the early 50s...
  23. Your car's looking REALLY good, Bob. I'm enjoying seeing your progress.
  24. In the Classifieds... Item 1... http://p15-d24.com/classifieds/item/472-46-48-plymouth-parts/
  25. Great info, Bob. I, too, enjoy reading about the history of the music I love. Thanks for sharing this. By the way, Lieber and Stoller wrote a huge number of hits recorded by Elvis, The Coasters, and many more... including 'Jailhouse Rock', 'Hound Dog', 'Stand By Me', 'Poison Ivy'... It's a very impressive list. Robin.
