  1. Simon, Paul... I hope you both make it to Pendine. The more the merrier. Simon - get yours hopped up and join us on the sand. It'd be great to see another P15 taking part. Race Passes are only available to VHRA members so, sadly, your '49 won't make the cut, Paul. membership spec here... http://www.vhra.co.uk/VHRA/Join.html
  2. Looping is for looks but, also, the fuel lines are fed via a block on the inner wing so helps to allow for flexing of the lines as the motor moves on its mounts.
  3. Yes, it's a half mile run up to a flying 1/16th mile (110 yds). The problem is that there's a notorious patch of wet sand, known as 'The Porridge', and it's critical that nobody hits that at speed. So the original plan for a longer run had to be revised in order to accommodate the public parking, pits, track, timing trap and run-off.
  4. Thank you for your detailed answers, Tim. Here are a couple of pictures of my Sharp intake. As you can see, I'm running twin B&Bs.
  5. 2015 Race Pass and Pit Passes arrived today. With my timing tag from 2014.
  6. It was such a fantastic weekend. Our top speeds were: 235 Dean 1948 2-Door Sedan 77.96mph 87 Robin 1947 Convertible 77.58mph 232 Chris 1946 Convertible 74.40mph Our Plymouths performed very well against the other full-bodied cars. All three of us beat 4 out of 6 flathead V8 powered Fords, and Dean and Robin beat all three OHV Chevy sixes. We'll be back on the sand on 4th & 5th July next year, to do it all again. PS Just to clarify... Pendine Sands is in South Wales
  7. Yes, I'd be interested, too. I'm also running a Sharp dual carb intake with twin Carters.
  8. I'm leaving for the festival in a few hours, Bob. This time we have Charlie Gracie, Roddy Jackson and Eddie Daniels topping the bill. Charlie Gracie is probably the most well-known. Roddy Jackson and Eddie Daniels are more obscure, but both have fascinating histories and cut some excellent records in the '50s. Roddy recorded for Specialty and worked with some big names. His first single was produced by Sonny Bono. Eddie recorded for Ebb and other lables - he also wrote songs for Eddie Cochran and Jewel Akens. Videos here... Charlie Gracie on TV, back in the day: Roddy Jackson's first ever UK show, Rhythm Riot 2004: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6D_WiS3bB0#t=22 Eddie Daniels at The Ponderosa Stomp, New Orleans, last year:
  9. NIce one. I hadn't seen that promo before. Thanks.
  10. Me too. The Demon Drome is the oldest surviving Wall. They ride vintage Indian motorcycles round it. The skill is superb. As is the sound and the smell. Here are our 'ATOMIC Bombshells' with some of the Demon Drome bikes and riders...
  11. No, Don. It's The Demon Drome Wall of Death.
  12. Just a short video teaser featuring one of the events I organise in England. This is from our first ATOMIC Festival, in May. You'll probably like the drag racing shots... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHotqoPrhJY&feature=youtu.be
  13. This is an email I received in response to a Wanted ad. Almost identical, signed Moses Cordoba. I smelt a rat immediately, and asked for pictures and his user name on the Forum. As suspected, I got no reply. Hi Robin, Thanks for writing, I have a DeSoto SP15 Dash Badge for sale in excellent condition and decent shape. I am asking a $140 for it shipped. Asking price includes shipping via UPS or FedEx which ever you prefer, and l'll accept payment via Western union or Moneygram. What's your complete shipping address ? Thanks, Moses
  14. I think some of you guys will like this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oicu39lda0E&feature=youtu.be
  15. Sorry guys. Jerry was running the event, so was too busy to grab keys, open hood, etc. I snatched this picture before we left. I promise to do better next time!
  16. It was built by Burnham Autos. The project started about a year ago and is only just completed. I got all the original parts that were taken off and the RHD exhaust manifiold and steering box were donated to another friend with a stock 41 Plymouth, who was desperately in need of them.
  17. No, Greg. It's just badged as a DeSoto.
  18. Luckily, Don, he'd be competing in a different class (in every sense!) He tells me that the car's so fast he's going to change the gearing to slow it down a bit!
  19. Yes. Even inside. Original gauges, steering wheel, column and gear shifter. The only clue is that there's no clutch pedal.
  20. Saw my friend's 41 DeSoto for the first time, this weekend. It's a right hand drive (South African car), with a Plymouth body, badged as a DeSoto. A crate 426 hemi has been installed, but everything's been done to keep it looking as stock as possible. Apart from the radial tires, wider rims, big tailpipes, and the enormous exhaust dumps inside the fenders, for open headers, you'd never know. I'll get more pictures when I see it again.
  21. Hi Guys, I posted a Wanted ad a few weeks ago and received an email asking if I was still looking for the part. After replying to confirm that I was, I received another email with the price, a vague description and a request to pay by Western Union or Moneygram. Alarm bells rang at this point, so I asked for pictures of the part, and the seller's user name on the Forum. I've heard nothing since. This is just a heads up to everyone, to be careful. Don't get scammed!
  22. Yes. I'll find them in the garage, take some pix and PM you.
