  1. I think you can see in this pic.
  2. Would like to check my B3-B timing ignition marks & indicator. Can anyone send me a pic from book showing the crank vibration damper with timing marks and indicator.Thanks.
  3. I rebuilt mine GMC 1944 truck with a professional shop and it continues leaking in the back push rod of BMC.I only replace hydraulic fluid:p
  4. It is above number 6 cylinder,it has a small plug that should be removed to check the position of the piston, for example to re-install the distributor.Would like to see a pic or book showing this.Thanks.

  6. There are three(3) types of head engine re-torque(studs & nuts).1)In engine assembly,2)After engine warm up and 3)After road test.*PS:Re-torque should be done 10 to 10 lbs until reach the recommended torque in its sequence.
  7. Ok socalkevin07,thanks for your help.Regards.
  8. Thanks Mr.Yes I considered my oil pump has been indexed correctly with the camshaft. In this case "elsewhere" means six or eight o'clock. It never can be closest to for example nine or five o'clock, right?
  9. This question is to Mr.Don Coatney:"When I put the number 1 cylinder in Top Dead Center(with both valves closed-in compression stroke) position to re-install my distributor, automatically the rotor points to seven o'clock position, right?Next step I will put the spark cable in distr.cap in clockwise and firing order sequence 1-5-3-6-2-4 Ok?"Thanks.
  10. Chuck07,can you relate for me your experience in your first time re-installation distributor? Can you explain to me?
  11. In this pic you can see the place of battery.
  12. 1)Cylinder DOWN only can be=INTAKE or POWER;2)Cylinder UP only can be=COMPRESSION or EXHAUST.3)INTAKE & EXHAUST=one valve open;4)POWER & COMPRESSION=both valves closed.
  13. This is the same model.
  14. Mine is a 1952,its serial number is 90099559.1951 serial number begins 90093151,1952 begins 90098119 and 1953 begins 90103501.
  15. Ok Greg g,congratulations for your explanation.Let's see if more and more of the PH forum members can give other ideas about this subject.Regards.
  16. According the D-14966 manual, exhaust manifold WITH heat control valve only for trucks B1-B,B1-C(up to engine nº T142-73728,B1-D(up to engine nº T146-29890).Is it right?
  17. "The muffler is designed for straight through exhaust to MINIMIZE BACK PRESSURE".Would like to see an explain about this.Thanks.
  18. When the engine is cold, the counterweight lever closes the valve and directs the hot exhaust gases against the intake manifold. As the engine warms up the thermostatic(or bimetal) spring expands and opens the valve directing the exhaust gases into the exhaust pipe.
  19. Does anybody have more detailed pics about spring, shaft exhaust manifold assembly?
  20. My second dash board instrument(oil gauge) restoration by "plotter".The next will be the thermometer gauge.
  21. The instrument panel oil gauge indicates oil pressure delivered to camshaft, crankshaft, timing chain and connecting rod bearings when engine is running.Proper registration should be not below 10 on idle nor more than 80 at speeds above 10 miles per hour. This gauge does not indicate the amount of oil in crankcase.
  22. Steve, lack of power in an engine is sometimes caused by poor seating of the valves in the valve seats which allows the gases in the compression chamber to escape into the intake or exhaust manifold.Through the use of a cylinder compression gauge one can readily determine which valves are not properly seating. You may check too the screws and nuts of the cylinder head, principally if have presence of water and oil leak.Tighten them with a tension wrench in a sequence of L-Head six engine. For example in an L-Head 4(Jeep) engine screws to 65 to 75 foot pounds and the nuts to 60 to 65 foot pounds.Goog luck.
  23. Anyone has pics about flat-head six valves, spring, tappet disasembly, adjustments and assembly?Which is the clearance for the exhaust and intake valves?Regards.
  24. Anyone has the sequence of flat head six Engine tune up?
