  1. Well, Ed informed us that Plymouth didn't make a 41 pickup, but did offer a vehicle with a front end, cowl, windshield, etc; so any builder could make what they wanted. Turns out, Mr. Wood used lumber to turn this truck into a wagon; thus LUMBERWAGON, a play on words with multiple meanings, just like PLYWOOD. Good choice However, for those of you who are Imagination Challenged, I provide link: http://tiny.cc/8kw5l
  2. I re read Fred's term for the 41, in his email: " this is the 1941 plymouth woody truck". Maybe I should call it LUMBERTRUCK?????
  3. Fred Wood just sent these additional photos of his new creation, 41 Plymouth, WOODPICK (that is my name for it, or it could also be PICKWOOD). On further thought, maybe I should call it LUMBERTRUCK!!!!!! Merry Christmas to all Charlie
  4. A guy out here in AZ had a set made by a local welding shop, then had them chromed. Turned out real nice.
  5. Great! I have always been a big history fan of Jesse James because of the Great Northfield, MN, robbery, by the James-Younger Gang. Maybe if you research Jesse Jame's possible contacts in the area, it might explain the Coatney connection.
  6. HHHHHHMMMMMMMMMM, Ed, you started my mental wheels to start turning........here is an e- letter I just sent to my cousins in Apple Valley,MN............. Hi Wendy and Cliff, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I was just reading some posts on my Yahoo Plymouth/Dodge Forum and one of the guys, who lives near Stillwater, was telling everyone to set aside Labor Day weekend, 2011, for a National Plymouth Owners Club non judging Meet Up, in Rochester, MN. I was just thinking about a grand plan in regards to seeing my family and enjoying my roots states while driving my 1946 PLYWOOD Plymouth. What if I could afford to have my car hauled to MN, in time for the "BACK TO THE FIFTIES" car show, leave it with you guys and come back to do it all over again Labor Day Weekend, 2011? It is too hot in AZ to even drive the old car or pickup. I would be quite happy to have you guys use the car for going to car shows, etc, while it was in your keeping. I don't drive it as an every day car, due to the collector car insurance guidelines. I could even get a "rider" on my insurance to cover you guys to store and drive it for those months. Eventually, I'll get it hauled back to AZ, but I am not getting any younger, so it would be a grand gift to myself, for sure. Any way, what do you all think of my idea, so far?
  7. Just curious, Mate, but what do the kiddies leave for Santa's visit? Is it cookies and milk, or? Merry Christmas to the bottom half of the planet.
  8. As a part time Doggie Adoption counselor, for the AZ Humane Society, where in I try to find proper fit homes for the dogs in our care; I am most gratified to see such a loving family home for Cooper. I hope he has you all under control. Take care of the animals, People.
  9. Museum quality cars are not usually good investments, if you want to drive them. It is wonderful to see these perfect examples, but most of us tend to want vehicles we can drive and work on, without losing most of our investment. However, if I win the MegaMillions Jackpot, tomorrow night, I shall buy this car for Jon, because he is the one of the nicest people I have ever met, and Kathy, too.
  10. Good to hear from you, Pete. Do you still have the ol Chevy pick up? Nice grey skies, don't see those much, in this part of sunny AZ.
  11. Very nice Phantom Woodie. Park Bench Green would be my color of choice.
  12. Thanks Bob for rotating the photo of the 41 pick up woodie.
  13. Yep! Ed, that is a 41 Plymouth pick up. I'll ask Fred to send me more photos of it, if he has them.
  14. I contacted Fred Wood yesterday to ask him to send me some photos of his original creations of Wood Car Company Woodies. I received this email and these photos from him. He is still building original, one-of-a-kind Woodies. Enjoy! Charlie Olson, Historian, Wood Car Owners Club charlie, fred and sydney here, weve seen the articles , in the woodie times, and one in a washington paper.its always a thrill to see them , we recently sent you a email when we saw plywood got in a accident, glad all is well with you two ,especially glad you didnt get injured.things here couldnt be better, still working on old cars and newer ones sense the economy tanked been buying and selling mostly , still buying old cars and building one on occassion.i have some very rare and unusual cars and trucks.we also deal in aniques and building materials, having a great time, going to start another woodie soon got a couple possibilities , but heres a pic of my last completed one, its a 1947 studebaker woodie truck ,built this from the ground up ,it was a pickup truck has a v8 ps pb rack and pinion locking rear dif disc brakes , even tilt and electric bucket seats, a blast to drive and show, probably sell this spring , might advertise in woodie times.heres some other woodies we have done. keep in touch ,fred and sydney wood.
  15. The time has come to upgrade the provenance, of one 1946 Wood Car Company Plymouth, given the official bragging name of PLYWOOD. Below is the first step, in a very convoluted journey, to prove there does exist a bona fide Wood Car Company; an originator of fine (well, maybe fun) vehicles. The research team wishes to thank Don Coatney and that other guy, Eneto-55 , for the challenge to ascertain that one PLYWOOD is not a figment of someone's imagination. Exhibit "A": Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Fred and Sydney; Charlie Olson, here, to check in with you all. I still have and enjoy PLYWOOD. PLYWOOD was crashed into, 9-16-2010, BY A STOP SIGN RUNNING, UNINSURED MOTORIST, IN ALPINE, CA. PLYWOOD has since been ""RESTORED"", by Art Butler & Family, in PHX, AZ. PLYWOOD has been featured twice in the magazine of National Woodie Club, THE WOODIE TIMES; a feat not matched by any other current Woodie car. Not bad for a one off concept car from the famous WOOD CAR COMPANY. I would appreciate you sending me photos of the many other WOOD CAR COMPANY concept and drivable cars that you have created, built and sold, for my attempts at creating a more solid foundation for PLYWOOD's provenance. Would, you Woods. please assist me in this totally tongue-in-cheek project to inform the world that there is, possixxxx, er, definitely, a WOOD CAR COMPANY? I hope so, thanks, from PLYWOOD and I, Charlie Olson
  16. After the crash of 9-16-2010, I get this same type of adrenaline rush most times I pull up to a quiet, two lane road, stop sign. KAPOW!!!! However, once I survive a safe stop sign maneuver, my heart rate returns to 1946 and I am once again sailing down the road in my Wood Car Company Plymouth. Merry Christmas!!!
  17. Hi Bob, when it comes to enjoying old Mopars or dogs, there is no such thing as too much time.
  18. Definitely consider the Army look. You'll be invited to be in every Veterans Day and Memorial Day parade, within 500 miles and that is a good thing, as our country is reverting back to being more patriotic.
  19. Turn up the volume!!! Merry Christmas!! Charlie, President, Wood Plymouth Car Club
  20. Hi Ed, I'll call Art tomorrow and ask him. The donor car has a lot of stuff on it. I do know that he is going to send it up to Payson, AZ, where his adult son runs a salvage yard. Merry Christmas everybody, looks like the Clipper lites are coming to AZ.
  21. Art Butler has one in the donor car he bought to get the body parts from, to restore PLYWOOD. It is in PHX, AZ.
  22. I won by a landslide. We don't need a Treasurer because we ain't got no money.
  23. My metal wind wing deflectors don't make any noise from lose rivets, but did from being lose where the clamp fits over the window wing frame. I simply rebent the clamps to fit more securely and now I don't get any noise. I bought my real good quality deflectors from a vendor at the "BACK TO THE FIFTIES" car show, in St Paul, four years ago. I use them alternately on RED RYDER and PLYWOOD.
  24. I was just at the grocery store and saw they had the February 2011 Classic Car magazines, in stock. I opened one up and noticed the subscription discount voucher promo insert; which is offering a one year subscription to CC for $12, $1 per month. When I just now arrived home, I checked the subscription discount voucher insert in my own subscription copy, of the February 2011, CC; offering me, a loyal subscriber, a one year subscription for $18.95, which is a 57.9% mark up on the price offered to some one who happens to buy a magazine rack copy. I am definitely going to call them and ask if I can receive the $12 price, to renew. If you go to the store and want that particular mag at a good price, take out one of those mail in subscription forms. Dirty scoundrels, just trying to take my money. the $18.95 code is: CSBL211 the $12 code is: CNBL211 Charlie Olson, President, Wood Plymouth Car Club, membership: 1
  25. Good question. The wood sides are shaped to fit over the existing metal skin of the doors and sides. The nice things about that are the car is more safe than a wood box station wagon, there is no shifting of the doors, no creaking/rattling sounds of the wood and more over all sound insulation.
