  1. Saturday, April 23, 2011, the fund raiser/food drive show was a success in the amount of money and food donated and the amount of participants in the car show. Here are a few sets of pics to enjoy.
  2. Since today is Good Friday, I have given myself the day off, from regular work, to do the Lord's work. Today's Lord's work consisted of driving PLYWOOD to the grocery store and spending my Easter tithe funds on non perishable food items, to take to tomorrow's Bethany Bible Church's 7th Annual Motorama, in support of the Phoenix Rescue Mission. There is just something very humbling about opening the rear suicide door, putting the bags of food, in the back seat, that are intended for some one in need. I drove home with a deep feeling of gratitude. Hopefully, there will a number of MoPars at tomorrow's popular event, so I can take some photos to share. http://www.desertcruisers.com/index.php?page=eventinfo&id=1896 Charlie Olson, taking a personal day from The Wood Car Company
  3. Yep, sure is gratifying to see how many different types of Phantom Woodies are being created and enjoyed. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-516687/The-worlds-wooden-supercar-faster-Porsche-Lamborghini.html Phantom Woodies Links: Presented for the unknowledgeable and uninformed http://tiny.cc/itc6a http://www.oldwoodies.com/gallery-phantoms.htm Charlie Olson, Research Librarian, The Wood Car Company
  4. For future reference, an old 50's mechanic taught me to attach a long piece of dental floss to small and or compressed parts. The long tail of floss is easier to spot than the small part which either fell or flew.
  5. Most of the Lowriders at this past weekend's Lowrider show had outside sun visors and a whole lot of attitude. I am going to keep PLYWOOD beach cruiser cool and easy going. I am going to put a visor on the 52 Chevy pick up, RED RYDER Charlie Olson, Cruise Director, The Wood Car Company; Membership Committee, Wild West Trucks Phantom Woodies Links: Presented for the unknowledgeable and uninformed http://tiny.cc/itc6a http://www.oldwoodies.com/gallery-phantoms.htm
  6. No, it comes in a latex hoback sack. (pun intended)
  7. Well, they all came with Wood theme bodies and configurations. You should be proud that not all woodies were FXXXs or CXXXXXs. Wood you like more cheese with your whine? Charlie Olson, representing Mopars in the Woods, The Wood Car Company
  8. Yes sir, that is true, but then, it wouldn't be as much fun as challenging these photo shop guys and keeping Coatney on top of his game, designing custom cars. If I were to put an outside sunvisor on PLYWOOD, I would do exactly as you suggested. Actually, I am going to pass your idea on the the National Woodie Club, as I think it is a sterling idea and I commend you for it. I still like seeing your "vert", as it brings back memories of one of my favorite toys.. Thanks, Bob
  9. So, I got to thinking about all of the Photo Shop Gurus, here on P15D24, and I thought it would be cool to have a "bitchin" (old surfer word for very cool) photo of PLYWOOD with a wood, surf theme wood outside sunvisor. I wish to thank the "outside the box" thinking of a D. Coatney, honorary Design Team member of The Wood Car Company, for this great suggestion. 10. I just wanted to say that I had a faded red hard rubber/something P15 convertible toy, bought at a 2nd hand store, when I was a little boy. I see them sometimes on the bay. Every time I see your convertible, I think of my red childhood toy. Thanks.
  11. As usual, this is an easy one for me; as I am either working in my part time job, doing meals on wheels, volunteering at the AZ Humane Society, inspecting all of the rust free old cars in AZ for future investing and/or testing out the cleanliness of the local bar's/saloon's beer taps; I shall do my best to uphold the "drive yo ride" day. Charlie Olson, "worker of the year", The Wood Car Company IF IT'S WOOD; IT'S GOOD
  12. The blue Plymouth is a 1939. There was a very interesting article about the history of this car and the family, which has always owned it, in the Woodie Times.
  13. It is against the law to have wood accessories on the front portion of any road driven vehicle in Arizona. I thought everyone knew about the possibility of "draft splintering". Charlie Olson, Wood Shop Manager, The Wood Car Company OUR MOTTO: IF IT'S WOOD; IT'S GOOD
  14. With the color of your car, it looks like it could have been a Navy Admirals staff car; except for the two doors. Good photos and thanks.
  15. Thanks for all of the opinions, here, about external sun visors. I have decided not to put an external visor on PLYWOOD for a few reasons. The car already has a lot added to it, namely the wood sides, the roof rack, the fog lamps, the extra stop lights on the trunk lid, three side mount rear view mirrors, a big clam shell SS exhaust deflector and a repop front license plate topper. I now think an external visor would be over accessorizing the car. Here, in AZ, the external sun visors are more in vogue with the low rider look and PLYWOOD is more the beach cruiser. Although, PLYWOOD was the only non-low rider car at today's low rider show, at the Fort MacDowell Casino. Most people at the low rider events like PLYWOOD because it is still a cool old ride, even if it isn't low. It also helps to have a child hood nick name, Guerro, which means 'light skin'. The picture with PLYWOOD next to Fred's P15 shows the look with being too over done. The visor on Fred's green P15 looks just right. I think an external sun visor for RED RYDER would be a better choice.
  16. I have become rather fond of this type of model. My only complaint is that the exhaust is too close to the intake. Other than that; happy motoring!!!!!!
  17. Hi, if money wasn't a concern; how many of you would put vintage type external sun visors, on your post War MoPars? I am trying to decide about putting one on PLYWOOD, but just can't seem to make the leap. Thanks, for your opinions and whys/why nots. Charlie, driving that repaired PLYWOOD
  18. At this past weekends annual 7th Avenue street Fair/Car Show, I met a great gal, Ruth Anne, who has a 1948 P15 (Black with red rims, just like PLYWOOD), with newly converted 6V LED tail/stop lights. I asked her to email me the name of the company; so, here it is: http://www.lambertenterprises.com/ I am going to contact them, soon, and ask about converting PLYWOOD to 6V LED boards, to install into my existing tail/stop lights. I haven't dealt with this company, however, Ruth Anne says they are very helpful and knowledgeable. Look for Ruth Anne to be checking out our forum and possibly joining, soon, from PHX, AZ.
  19. This is a copy of the email I sent to Jim and Lanny, when I received the Heads Up email about the article, in the Detroit News website: Hi Lanny, Hi Jim, this "truck" "camper" is a favorite at many local shows here in the PHX area. It is a real journey down the "times past" lane to climb up inside the "Prairie Schooner" bed of this fine relic. It takes about four days to see and identify all of the different accessories attached to this rig. It was just a few weeks ago that PLYWOOD and I attended the Historic Heritage Square Annual Car Show, pictured in the article. Thanks for thinking of us. Charlie and PLYWOOD. Thanks for the great memories
  20. Greetings All, from 79 degree weather sunny Arizona. Please enjoy the write-up and additional photos, from this year's Annual Historic Heritage Square Car Show. A special thank you and recognition to Jim Benjaminson (an honorary good Norwegian boy), Membership/Secretary-Treasurer, POC, for bringing this article to our attention, and to Lanny Knutsen (a good Norwegian boy), editor of the POC Bulletin/Pastor, for insuring this article was forwarded to your correspondent, Charlie Olson (another good Norwegian boy), Director of Multi-Media, The Wood Car Company. After enjoying the article about the Old Ford Covered Wagon, please click on the "more photos" link, to enjoy additional photos of the wide variety of historical transportation, in SUNNY 79 DEGREE WEATHER IN ARIZONA. http://apps.detnews.com/apps/joyrides/index.php?id=874 At the bottom of the windshield posted entry sheet, your ever HUMBLE servant wrote "GO PACKERS". Which was good for three beers being bought by admiring Cheesehead attendees. GO PACKERS!!!!!! Okay, I realize it may be some what cruel to be bragging about the weather; so, if I could, I would invite you ALL, to come stay with me and we could watch the Green Bay Packers while relaxing in the pool.
