  1. A rather large Ford Expedition, as it sped through a stop sign, hit a first car, then bounced into PLYWOOD. The good news is that I am driving PLYWOOD for Christmas; almost as good as getting my two front teeth when I was eight.
  2. Tonight, as I was reading the posts, here on P15D24, I came across the thread with photos of the old saw mill. After a few high octane egg nogs, I realized something rather startling. I purchased PLYWOOD from a man who has his own auld skewl saw mill, Model T belt driven style; who cut down the trees on his own farm that he attached to the sides of PLYWOOD. The really cool thing is that his last name is Wood. So, for you purists, let it be known that I actually have an authentic original Wood Plymouth, thus PLYWOOD. Maybe PLYWOOD isn't a Phantom, after all.
  3. This thread really touched my heart. I purchased PLYWOOD from a wood working Tinker Man, in Oregon City, Oregon. He actually cut down some Fir trees on his own farm and milled them in a smaller version mill, than the one in these photos, and put that same wood on the sides of PLYWOOD. His auld tyme mill was driven by a belt drive off of a Model T engine. Amazingly, his last name is Wood; so I basically have an actual original Wood Plymouth (thus PLYWOOD), for all of you purists, to ponder.
  4. SIL?? Should we be fore warned? Yikes!
  5. Hi, Yes, send the Clipper, I have my Timberland Lamb Skin Lined boots, ready to mush. This picture is from April 29th, 2010, near Williams, AZ, on my way to Seligman, to begin the annual Route 66 Fun Run. I am parked on an original section of the Mother Road and that white stuff on the ground is hail and the foggy stuff on PLYWOOD is sleet. You don't scare us. Now where are my floaties for the pool? Merry Christmas, everybody!!!!!!
  6. BBBBRRRRRRRRR!! It's cold outside with my shorts and tee shirt.
  7. Merry Christmas to one and all from PLYWOOD, Tikuayla (an authentic 1948 Hawaiian tiki) and me. Hope you all have a great New Year!!! Charlie Olson
  8. Reg, I remember you telling and showing us this garage fender bender. Let's call it the Crashed My MoPar Club.
  9. Thanks Guys, only thing missing is a good copilot, like Cooper!!!!
  10. Hi All, one picture is of Art and his grandson, Chris, and friend, Wil, with PLYWOOD. These three did all of the work to repair (sorry if restore causes consternation) PLYWOOD. The other picture is of a better condition PLYWOOD, than before the big wreck. Can you spot the itsty bitsy hole, with a small rubber bumper in it; just above the driver's side parking light? The other two pics are from the day of the wreck, 9/16/2010.
  11. I am nominating your wife for WIFE OF THE YEAR.
  12. PLYWOOD, of course stands for Plymouth Woodie. A phantom woodie, for sure. It is my understanding that PLYWOOD is the only woodie known to have had two articles, with photos, about it, in the National Woodie Club monthly magazine, The Woodie Times. Not a bad accomplishment for an orphan phantom woodie. PLYWOOD was also presented in the POC, The Bulletin. The wood kit for PLYWOOD came from the trees on the farm, of the man who created PLYWOOD, from a photo of a 1946 Nash Suburban.
  13. Art and the boys restored PLYWOOD to it's original driving condition, as it was when I bought it. Yes, even one-of-a-kind PLYWOOD was an original once. BTW, PLYWOOD ran beautifully today. I received a 12 thumbs up salute from a group of Legion Riders as they passed me, on the road by Superstition Mountain.
  14. Hi All, thank you for your ideas. After talking with Art, about the Bendix Gear possibility, we are betting that is what the problem most likely is. Now, in a few days, I'll post pictures of PLYWOOD with Art, Chris and Wil, the three men who take care of and restored PLYWOOD.
  15. Well, today, I drove PLYWOOD for the first time, since the great wreck of 9-16-2010. Ran great, looks cool and I felt just a little paranoia driving it. As I was nearing home base, on city streets, my old nemesis clanging sound happened again, just as I was slowing down at a stop sign. It sounds like some one is swirling a bunch of bicycle chain links around in a tin wash tub; lasting only for about 6 - 8 seconds. It doesn't seem to affect the running of the engine, doesn't change pitch when I lightly rev up the engine, is the same with clutch in or out, keeps clanging with engine turned quickly off and seems to come from just behind the engine. Art rebuilt the clutch and flywheel components last year, at which time he found a lot of shrapnel type of pieces. I am at a loss to know what it is that I am hearing. Has anybody else experienced anything like this in your P15's? PLYWOOD ran fine before, during and after the shrapnel attack.
  16. Wow!! There it is; AUBURN, in smooth over letter, just below the hood ornament. Time for new glasses or a bigger magnifying glass. Thanks!!
  17. I cannot figure out what I am seeing when I am looking at a picture, on page 24, January 2011 issue of Classic Car. There are two pictures on the left side of the page, the top one being the hood ornament of a 1935 Auburn. Can anyone tell me what the bottom picture is? It looks like a row of silver belt buckles. Thanks.
  18. Hey!!!! I may have found the perfect "front fender hole" cover on Ebay. Let me know what alla ya all think, okay??? Thanks! Ebay item number: 270678858696
  19. Being from Arizona, what is that white stuff all over the ground, by the "tent'?
  20. I appreciate your input Ed, however, the work was done by my benefactor/car angel, Art Butler, who did about $400 worth of extra work improving PLYWOOD during the restoration, at no charge. Additionally, Art has worked on PLYWOOD for the past six years and only charges me $15 an hour for labor; plus he has stored, both RED RYDER and PLYWOOD inside, locked for $100 per month and told me that he'll never raise the rent on me. I enthusiastically volunteer any time Art asks me to help with some of his Packard Club activities. On the 14th when I get PLYWOOD out of storage, for a month of pleasure cruising, I am giving Art, his grandson and another worker, a $35 box of nice chocolates, each. It is not in me to ever fix that 1/4 inch hole, as long as Art will see the car. I was even thinking about putting a little chrome cross, at the hole site, as a sign of gratitude for God sparing me serious injury. I do need to fix these holes in my head, but PLYWOOD will just have to deal with it's hole.
  21. I purchased new 12 volt LED tail lights for PLYWOOD, January 2008, with the intent of converting to 12 volts, sometime. Now that I have installed the very cool looking 6 volts "blue dot" tail lights on PLYWOOD, I have decided to keep it 6 volts. I paid $115 for the set, still in it's shipping package box. I am offering them to anyone from P15/D24 for $80, plus shipping. I see the same set is now on ebay for $109 - $127. The company is Technostalgia. December 14th is my official "driving PLYWOOD again" date ) Merry Christmas OKAY, TONY URWIN IS GOING TO TAKE THE 12V LED TAIL LIGHTS. THANKS.
  22. Hey Bob, after market turn signals is a good guess, too. We'll take another look at the donor car, to see there is any wiring for that. Have a great everybody.
  23. Well, PLYWOOD is now restored after the wreck in September. Front end all nice and newly painted, front and rear rechromed bumpers, matching working fog lamps, nice looking rear fender SS gravel guards, nicer looking driver tail light bezels with NOS "Blue Dot" lenses, smooth cowl driver's side with no antenna and a rebuilt steering box. I went up to Art's garage, this past Tuesday, to see PLYWOOD, all done, for the first time. As we were checking out everything, we noticed a small round hole in the LF fender, just above the parking light, about 2 inches. I asked why that hadn't been filled in and the guys said they didn't realize it wasn't the same as the RF fender, so we put a very small black rubber stop in it for now. We went over to the donor car and it's remaining RF fender had the very same hole. We are guessing that the donor car was either a police or fire vehicle because of the type of spot light mounted in the driver's A pillar and that the two holes were for wires for either red lights or sirens. Who knows. Anyway, instead of pulling that fender off to fill in that itty bitty hole and repaint the entire fender, I have decided to celebrate the mystery hole by locating and installing a very cool looking vintage Plymouth dealer metal advertising tag; like you usually see on the trunks of older cars. Anyone have an interesting Plymouth dealer tag you don't want or need? I just started looking on the Bay tonight and found mostly Chevy, Ford and Buick dealer's tags. For some reason, PLYWOOD now smokes a lot when cold, so we are wondering what that is all about, who knows. I drive PLYWOOD, next Tuesday, for the first time, and shall be enjoying it through the Holidays, as there are many car events, this time of year; including a New Years Eve Party at the new collector/exotic Auto Museum in Scottsdale. Let me know if anyone has a nice dealer tag for PLYWOOD, please.
  24. Your challenge to restore your coupe sure out does my front left damage to PLYWOOD. I am as happy for you as I am for myself; in getting our cars back on the road again. Atta Boy for your perseverance. Charlie
  25. Hey Rodney, I sure wish we lived closer, so we could introduce our little red pickem up trucks; mine is called RED RYDER. Every year, I join a local Marine Corp Reserve Toys for Tots car run and enjoy seeing the bed of RED RYDER filled with toys, to be delivered to the collection center, at the end of the day's activities. Makes me feel a little Claus.
