  1. A gear head is a person who is more knowledgeable about the use of a wrench than they are with proper dining etiquette. If ever any one was a gear head, it would be.....well, let's not get into that.
  2. That is a very cool idea to use a window mount flag display on the upper trunk lid edge. I am going to copy it!! Happy July 4th!!!
  3. You are definitely the Black Out King!!! Happy July 4th, Jon.
  4. What a great idea for a unique car guy gift. I am going to be on the lookout for something like this, for me, so I'll enjoy my Plymouth time, even more. another ebay watch: http://tiny.cc/j17b7
  5. Yep! This coming Friday, July 8, 2011, is National Collector Car Appreciation Day; 2nd annual. More info here at the SEMA site: http://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2010/21/collector-car-appreciation-day-grows Here in PHX AZ, there are going to be two nights of car shows and parties with live bands playing, to commemorate this yearly special day for all of us car nuts, gear heads and old iron fans. PLYWOOD will definitely be making the scene. HAPPY JULY 4TH!!!!! Charlie Olson, unofficial SEMA rep for The Wood Car Company
  6. Are bib over-alls in the DNA of your family? Great to see a down home tradition being passed on to the next generation.
  7. You hit the nail right on the head........ That pic was taken around 7 PM, when it only 103. This weekly event is only two miles from the house, so a quick, warm drive; but after the sun goes down, it gets balmy.........
  8. Well, I was surprised again to receive several phone calls that a picture of PLYWOOD was in our local paper, The Arizona Republic, in regards to car shows in my town, Gilbert. I went to the paper's office this AM and asked for some back copies of the Thursday, June 23rd paper. There on the front page of the "cars" section was an article and a very nice photo of PLYWOOD. The evening this photo was taken was especially touching because we were raising funds, that night, to pay for a head stone, for a young man. This 19 year youngster was traveling to Phoenix to receive cancer treatment and was killed in a freak crash, while in route. His Mom was in attendance and we were honored to have raised $350 towards the purchase of an appropriate head stone for her son. I wasn't even aware that someone was taking photos of the cars that night and am deeply touched by having this article to remember such a memorable evening of good hearted people reaching out to help some one in time of need. Some of the kids who were racing their slot cars went around the parking lot with a plastic bucket collecting funds for the headstone; which was a wonderful way for them to experience watching out for others. http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/events/articles/2011/06/16/20110616hot-wheels-mix-vintage-full-size-cars-gilbert.html Oh, BTW, HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY, ONE AND ALL!!!!!
  9. Yep! That guy is from AZ. He also built an exact scale model 39 Chevy two door sedan from scratch and it runs also. It is a real treat to see both of his cars together. His cars are "dwarf replicas" and here is an article about him and the 39 Chevy: http://www.50plus.com/driving/dwarf-replicas-as-classic-as-originals/85803/ Here are some YOUTUBE videos of Ernie Adams Dwarf Cars: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=ernie+adams+dwarf+car&aq=0&aqi=g9&aql=f&oq=Ernie+Adams
  10. I always heard it was called the "Eh & W"!
  11. Dang It!!! The damage looks very close to PLYWOOD's situation. Hopefully, the owner can buy it back and patiently look for a donor car, even in the UK.
  12. Bob, I watched the memorial services, from Joplin today, and was so very proud and humbled by the pastor's and Governor's speeches; SHOW ME, SHOW ME. Please make sure you have the option to submit "addendums" to your insurance claim; just in case things show up after and once the repairs begin. That way, any surprises will still be covered. Be patient and politely informative with the adjuster, as their job is very stressful and over loaded. I received an additional $3,100 in repairs, from my Grundy people because I had photos and receipts regarding the ongoing maintenance and improvement of PLYWOOD. Lastly, that was a very uplifting story about the single girl athlete, pole vaulter, who competed in the state finals to represent Joplin High School. The American Spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of the good people of Joplin. God's Speed!!!!
  13. Bob, just very relieved to hear you all are okay. Here is hoping all of the forces , agencies and community can work well together to get things back to normal, ASAP. God's Blessings to you all. Charlie
  14. G'day Mick, we Yanks really like seeing and knowing you Aussies and Kiwis are enjoying that old American iron, just as much as we do. Welcome, smooth roads and cold beer, to ya....
  15. The National Woodie Club just had their annual Drive Your Woodie Day, May 21st; asking for folks to submit interesting pics of their special places with their cars. I decided to wait until Memorial Day to do my pic, for submission, because we have a huge turn out, at the National Cemetery, in Phoenix, of collector cars and motorcycle groups with American flags every where, during the respectful Memorial Day ceremony. So, as Rockwood did their Victoria Day drive and photos; I thought it would be meaningful for us to drive our cars this coming weekend and submit pics, of unique and interesting places and events, in memory of those who have given their all to our country and to all of us.
  16. ""Oh, and we finally decided on a name for the old girl, Grace. What do you think?"" Well, I have Amazing Grace on my every day car rear license plate frame and I sort of like the name, Gracie, in memory of the wonderful humor of Gracie Allen, from my childhood days.
  17. Here is PLYWOOD, two pics at Christmas time and one from Route 66, 2010.
  18. Congratulations, Bob, '40Plymouth, on the nice half page article you submitted to the Bulletin, of the POC.
  19. Nate, do you ever park your car out side at night? Oh, and what is your exact address?
  20. I am sincerely bummed out for you. Thank goodness you weren't caught with a huge, all consuming fire. Hope the wedding celebration will lift your spirits.
  21. tonight I saw a complete set of fog lamp brackets on ebay; $35 range.
  22. Both items, brackets and fog light sets, are buy it now items. I mentioned the ebay fog lights for other guys who might want a very cool looking set, to restore.
  23. While I was thinking about cool sets of fog lamps, from this thread, I checked back on ebay and saw that there is a very very cool pair of 1940's era Yankee Clipper Fog Lamps for sale, again, $70, with mounts. 9 hours to go: 330555723620 They are just like the fog lamps on PLYWOOD, only with different style bumper bracket mounts.
  24. I found my very rare single Yankee Clipper fog light for PLYWOOD, after the crash, at www.taillightking.com. He seems to have all sorts of lighting fixtures for old iron. I just now peeked and he has a very nice pair of good looking chromed brackets for a pair of vintage fog lights. Bottom of page marked old fog lights. Just above the brackets, he is still showing the Yankee Clipper Fog Light I bought; marked as sold.
