A PCV system would take care of bypass smoke when the engine is running, but after I turn my engine off, smoke comes out of the oil breather inlet for a couple of minutes. This smoke ends up on the underside of my hood. I am trying to address some type of catch can to catch/eliminate the smoke. Check out the oil breather on this old Dodge.

My friend next door had his Dodge van painted 7 years ago for $950, dark grey. It was a very good paint job. I wish my painting skills were that good. Last month another friend of mine had his 78 Corvette painted at a shop that does mostly collision repairs, for $2000, GM white. The job came out ok, about the same as the paint job I did on my 38. Here in this part of Virginia there are several good shops that are not very expensive. Overhead is not so much compare to being in or near a city. One can rent/lease a nice shop reasonable. Weather is fair, so not so much to heat a shop.

I made a simple tow bar years ago for moving cars around the property. I bought the second one, $50, that has several different attachments.

70 degree in Va today. Good time to put some more miles on the 38. Still have a little color around town.

I have seen several small cars that have tow brackets attached to the frame from the factory. I made a tow bar to tow my 38s around the property until I got them driveable. I used flat stock and a trailer hitch.

If you are not able to repair or replace your valve, Napa has a manual type valve, #660-1141, about $20 that may suit your needs. I believe the Napa one is listed as a 71 Dodge Truck.

Bob, the scenery still looks very nice in your area of the country. Here in Va., mostly all the different colors have faded. Still have some trees with red leaves. Hope Cooper is well soon.

My favorite S-O-B tool is my big orange "Sawz-all". I can cut a Ford into 2 pieces in just a few minutes.

Temp gauge fairly close. During the summer on a hot day, the gauge will go to 180 to 195. I used a couple of cooking temp gauges to see if temp gauge is close. On a cold October evening, the heater only has cool/warm air coming out of it.

Saturday was the last official cruise in of the year here. 55 degrees Saturday, so not a big turn out. On the way home, my Plymouth engine got all the way up to 100 degrees. I think it is time for a thermostat, and new antifreeze.

I saw of a 41 project, a guy putting the 41 body on a Dakota frame/etc. Dakota had V8s, and V6s.

This time of year, the weather changes from night to morning to afternoon very much, so moisture can make things difficult for some vehicles when trying to get them started. My Plymouth parked in the garage has no problems, but if I park it in the carport, starting is difficult. I see moisture dropping off the carport most mornings.... Several times I had to spray "wire dryer" on the wires of my Mom's car if the car was parked outside and facing the wind. I do not buy "starting fluid", but I do put a little gas in a small squeeze bottle to help start an engine if necessary. I put in a couple drops of 2 stroke oil in with the starting gas also. I figure it could help with a "dry start", compare to using "starting fluid".....

Good that you are thinking of safety while spending time on your project. I keep plenty of eye wear, gloves, jack stands, extinguishers, band aids, telephone, etc. handy. I stored my Plymouth, and Dodge using 4 auto jack stands, under the frame. I placed several cookie sheets with cat litter, on a large plastic sheet, under the car to soak up moisture, and any oil/grease drips. With the wheels off the car, I could work on brakes, etc. easy when ever I had the time. My brake drums had high spots, probably from sitting too long,so had them shaved. I always use jack stands when ever I jack a car up, even for a short time. If a jack seal pops, the car come down in an instant.

The best carb cleaner I have found so far is from Carquest.

Since it is not cold in my shop, I did some work on my door panels for the 38. I salvaged the interior from a Dodge Van my friend was getting rid of. The Van interior was a wood panel board, and it is hard to beat free. I have more green material (blanket) that I had used on the headliner before. I just have to dye more of the buttons black soon, and wire in the lights....

Recently around this part of Virginia, the trend is to wear your hat in a correct manner with your sunglasses on the bill of the cap.

In W.Va. many years ago, people had squirrel tails hanging from their car antennas. Maybe that was just an apple latchun a merry cun thing.

I will take better photos of this set up on my next brake project, with the 37 Plymouth I am doing next. I used a plain piece of angle iron on the 38 pedals to make the adapter.

I need to put new kingpins on my 38 this winter, but for now, I am driving. I installed a 86 Dodge master cylinder on my 38. Used the original brake and clutch pedals though with the aid of a steel bracket. The rest of the brakes are as original. My brakes are doing very good since i got the car on the road.
