  1. something very strange here. I gotta wonder if this is a weird phishing expedition?
  2. Last day for bids!
  3. Pinion seal part number 18880 $17.39 @ NAPA Speedi-sleeve 99187 $41.49 @ NAPA From my notes on a DeSoto rear axle I had.
  4. From www.pickuptrucks.com The dependable 218 CI L-6 engine which had powered half- and 3/4-ton trucks since 1942 was dropped in favor of the slightly larger 110 horsepower 230 cubic L-6. The 241 CI V-8, Dodge's first OHV V-8. These engines continued through the 1956 model year. Wheelbases and cargo box lengths for half-, 3/4- and one-ton pickups remained unchanged from 1954 through 1956. Dodge engineers broadened the light-duty truck's transmission offerings in 1955 to include a fully automatic PowerFlite transmission and a gas-saving overdrive unit mated to the normal-duty 3-speed transmission. PowerFlite was an option on all light-duty pickups, overdrive was limited to the half-ton.
  5. I know that overdrive transmissions were available for Dodge trucks in 1955, but the only trucks that I can find online with the overdrive had the 270 V8. How about it, truck gurus? Is there a truck overdrive for flatheads?
  6. I would definitely be interested if you can get some info on the transmission, thanks!
  7. Pardon my ignorance, but I was not aware that overdrive transmissions were an option for our trucks! I would be interested. I have a friend in Iowa City and make that trip regularly.
  8. I put a new truck master cylinder on the forum auctions link. Replace your old master and help support the forum! Fits 1931-1936 Mopar autos as well as Dodge trucks 1930-1958 (without booster).
  9. came across this on craigslist http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/3024396294.html first one i've ever seen
  10. In 2008, I bought a new SUV that had carbon fiber interior pieces, which my wife hated. I sent the center dash panel, the armrest switch panels, and a small bezel from the shifter for the immersion woodgrain. The cost was $165 in 2008. They look great. I would love to do an entire '40s era Mopar that way, but the cost is probably prohibitive.
  11. That's how I installed the center rear window. On Pilothouse trucks, the rear glass actually sits inside the window flange (I think it's called a pinchweld). First, install the glass into the rubber molding. You put some strong cord, like a clothesline cord in the pinchweld slot of the rubber molding. One person holds the glass on the inside, while a second pulls the rubber molding over the pinchweld by pulling the cord through the window. Sounds easy, right? We spent 2 hours last month with no success. That time, I lubricated the rubber with soapy water. Yesterday, I lubricated the rubber and pinchweld with AstroGlide personal lubricant, and got it in in about 30 minutes. The window, I mean. Don't know where the AstroGlide came from. Someone must have left it in my medicine cabinet.
  12. Love these cars! I have one of the brake light bezels, probably as close as I'll ever get to owning one!
  13. I put new glass in the rear window of my B1C this afternoon, using new rubber from Steele. Two solid hours of very flavorful language seemed to help. My rubber already has that aged, scratched look from a dozen attempts at installation. I gave up on the curved side glass after the third attempt. Time for professional help!
  14. Did anyone complete this master cylinder swap?
  15. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you all for the encouragement. Finances will improve, I may even take the opportunity to go back to school myself. Which makes it even more likely that I will sell some toys. I got some notices that I missed some Private Messages because my Mailbox was full. I cleaned out the box, so please resend your messages if you didn't get a reply.

  17. Ed, here's a picture of the DeSoto. I bought it in NY and drove it back 650 miles to Cincinnati.
  18. Several forum members have emailed me after receiving invitations to join LinkedIn, which is a social networking site for business professionals. A collegue invited me to join, and I guess I was careless enough to let the site send invites to those of you who are in my list of contacts. Please just decline the invitation if you are not interested. The site is harmless enough, even useful to some business professionals, but I know many of you want to reduce you internet footprint as much as possible. Anyway, my apologies... On another note, I just returned from my niece's wedding in Texas to find that I have been laid off for the second time in eight years. I'm keeping the running Pilothouse, but I also have two project vehicles that may have to go: a 48 Club Coupe a 52 DeSoto wagon Also available: a George Asche-built 265ci flathead (0 miles) w/dual carbs and headers a George Asche-built overdrive (0 miles) A dyno-tested rebuilt 318 (0 miles) Brand-new Mopar Performance A-518 transmission Lots of misc stuff, from chrome spoke wheels, re-plated bumpers, etc that may end up on eBay. I know it's a bad time to sell, but with two kids in college, I would consider selling some of my projects (or parts) if anyone is interested.

  20. Be careful out there, Bob. I came through a nasty tornado when I was younger (15 of my neighbors weren't so lucky), but I broke some bones in the aftermath. It's still dangerous during the cleanup! Glad to hear that you are all unhurt.
  21. I have some extras. Send me a PM with your address.
  22. GT, can't thank you enough for providing this forum. Thanks again for all your hard work!
  23. What about moving the front window track? Did you get a track from a non-vented door, or did you fabricate the front window track from scratch?
  24. I'll take them, Charlie. I sent you a PM with my contact info.
  25. Here's an article on a P-15 headliner install
