  2. Thanks to everyone for your help First thing I did Sam was check that all screws were tight ,they were I have ordered a new carb kit it should arrive in a week coming from one cost to near the Nations Capital Yes they are expensive everything comes from the States so there is the exchange on our dollar and then duty fees The good thing is its made in the States. I will attempt to fix the problem myself it will take me out of my comfort zone but I have good advice One last question when I was under the hood I pulled the throttle and gas leaked out around both sides of the throttle valve attachment on both sides( not a lot but noticeable). Is this fixable ?
  3. Thank you gentlemen truth is it did happen once before only not as bad . Next question can I remove the fuel line take out the needle and seat assemble and clean it or order a new assemble ?
  4. I have a bit of a problem yesterday while returning home from a cruise night i could smell gas and then the car started running rough so I pulled over shut it off pulled the hood release and gas was dripping , more like poring down out off the carb I tried to start it again after about ten minutes no luck . After failing to arrange for a tow about a half hr had passed I tried again and drove it home with no further issues. i had my fire extinguisher ready thankfully didn't need it . I am assuming it was a choke issue that flooded it but this is a problem I have to fix . No idea where to start .Do I get a new carb. this one was rebuilt five years ago by an mechanic . my car is a 48 plodge with a stromberg carb Thank you for any ideas you may have

  6. I had my 48 out a couple of times put on close to 50 Klm. Got gas and enjoyed the ride.
  7. Napa sells them Gold 1080
  8. Ok thanks to everyone I will leave it facing firewall
  9. Yes i know about the dimple I was just wondering about the proper orientation of the screen .Someone in its history may have removed the tube and rotated it 180. I thought the same as you D35 that facing forward would be correct thanks
  10. Hi i have been searching for the proper way for the vent cap to be sitting on the tube . I have seen pics with the cap mesh to the front and pic with the mesh to the firewall . I searched my manuals and could't find it. My mesh is towards the firewall . Maybe it doesn't matter don't know .
  11. On my 48 the springs hold it up . I would imagine yours should also.
  12. Sorry don't have that part.
  13. Be careful what you order ,your car is a plodge . Which is a plymouth with dodge badges ,I always tell the parts people that I have a 48 plymouth that way I get the right parts.
  14. Welcome to the forum. What exactly is the radio emblem ? I have two old radios in my basement that are only good for parts.
  15. The difference between the D24 and the D25 are as follows You already mentioned the pointy grill and then the D 25 hood is a plymouth hood not a butterfly . Then the D25 fenders don't extend into the doors they are the same as a plymouth Next the dash on the D25 is the same as a plymouth . that is how to tell at a glance .
  16. Thanks Kieth . I have LED brake / taillights and the reason I went with them was for brightness but really I don't find them any brighter.
  17. Congratulation Mark It sounds really good.
  18. Hi Welcome to the forum . You will find lots of people eager to help . I have the exact same car 1948 4 door D25 Deluxe Your car should have a manual transmission not fluid drive you car is basically a Plymouth with Dodge badging. So you were adjusting the linkage before this problem happened it sounds like its now out of adjustment But I am no mechanic Good luck.
  19. I am amazed every time I watch one of your videos.
  20. I just looked it up and D24 C on the tag on the firewall means it is a Custom with the Custom trim> It should also have a stainless trim on the rear fender above the tire ,which is missing . There seems to be work done on your cars body in the past it may have been removed. As for the stamp on the block no idea . Info from Field Guide To aftermarket parts 1946 -1948 Dodge
  21. D24 (C) stands for Custom model.
  22. Hi I have a 48 D25 it has 7 leaves both sides one side is covered the other not . Sorry about it being upside down can't seem to correct it .
  23. I ordered my material from SMS in April of 2019 ,12 yards at 89. 00 a yard . A word of caution though it took a year for me to get my material I had to go through the Better Business Bureau . No problem with the material it was great.
  24. Thanks to everyone for their input solving this problem . I will definitely run it first and longer and listen for the change . This forum has helped me again and again and I highly recommend it to everyone on other forums that I frequent. Thank you again
  25. Hi I recently installed an electric fuel pump close to the gas tank . I have tried it a few times with mixed results . The last time the car would not start I had to resort to poring gas into the carb ,as soon as I did away it went . What I have been doing is a couple of pumps on the gas full choke and the electric pump for about 5 seconds don't know if this is the right way or do I just let the pump run until it starts ? I tried it once and could smell gas which concerned me . I checked for leaks around the new pump and line could smell gas around the mechanical pump no drips just the smell . Does the Mechanical pump block the flow of gas until the starter is turning the engine ? If i was to let the pump run does it stop when the carb bowl is full ? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
