  1. I agree, that would work much better, but with the exchange and shipping it's over an $800 bill canadian.... Aluminum blocks "should" come in a tad cheaper.... lol
  2. Can I ask where you found the raw aluminum? I've been trying to find a source here on Vancouver Island for about 2 months and everyone is coming up empty handed. I'm looking to fabricate or purchase a set of 3" lowering blocks (1 3/4" wide) for my 1947 D24... Ubolts are covered, just need to find or build some blocks... lol Thanks in advance... Rob.
  3. Thanks... I read up on that one for sure... As for the Transmission... You may be right... The fellow I scrounged them from, stated it is a 727 4WD setup... I was thinking about using it, but then I read not only do you have to change the tail housing, but the guts have to come out to change the tail shaft as well... It basically comes with the engine... Probably easier to find a proper 2wd transmission, as I am looking to install a floor shifter anyhow in the center console.
  4. For those that have swapped a 318 into their D24's, I have a question.... (And yes, I have searched and read all of he other posts on the forum related to this topic, as well as hit the "other" message boards, etc...) To be warned, this post won't be for the purists that want to keep a L6 Flathead in their cars... I'll enjoy my flathead for the summer, but ultimately, it's going to go... I have scrounged up a 1993 rollerized 318 and 727 combo for my car, and will be swapping out the engine come fall... Currently collecting all the pieces required, Rear end still to be sourced. Now that Butch's cool stuff has closed... (I missed ordering my kit by a few weeks) I am on the hunt for one of two things... 1) Photo's or information on fabrication of the off-set motor mounts and transmission crossmember to install a 1993 318 (Carb conversion) engine into my 1947 Dodge D24, fender clearance, Floor modifications for the transmission, Which headers work best for your application, etc... or 2) Another source to look into buying a kit... I have the ability to fabricate mounts, etc.... and ultimately figure it out, but I was just hoping to not have to re-invent the wheel... again... If you have gone through this conversion type, message me as I have some questions... lol Thanks in advance... Rob.
  5. Thanks for the information... I will order one today... Mine snapped right under the dash, but looking over the remainder of the cable, its time for a replacement.... lol Rob.
  6. Good evening guys… So first trip out tonight with the car and as luck would have it… the ebrake cable snapped. it was slightly frayed right after the interior handle, so I knew to be careful, but I guess it was worse than I thought… Anyone have a good source for a replacement cable? In Canada would be fantastic, but, at this point, I’ll order from wherever I can find one? oh, and is there anything special I should know about changing it out? thanks… Rob
  7. Still looking for a lead on a drivers side door for my US made Dodge D24 C, or even just the outer door sheet metal panel. It's the one with the "fender bulge" going into the door... Found one in Indiana, but the shipping is going to kill me.... Any leads would be appreciated... Thanks in advance...
  8. Thanks everyone for the comments.... I'm pretty sure this car has taken a hit in the passenger side front at some point in it's life, so I'm sorting all that out. As per Dan's comment above, it doesn't appear the inner fender is connected to the rad support... I cannot find any bolts let alone 3... lol I'll let you guys know how it runs out... be nice to actually get the hood lined up on this thing properly...
  9. Good Day everyone... So, little bit of an update on my car, Rear seat is in place (modified a rear third row seat from a '90's Econoline van with built in seatbelts to fit), replaced the muffler, brakes are done, tuned up the 6cyl and now just continuing my once over through the car and found my hood wasn't latching down or lining up as I think it should... The car is a US model 1947 D24C with the butterfly hood. Noticed a large gap between the hood and the front cowl (Windshield area), so started looking a little closer and it appears that I've found the problem, however, I'd just like to get some feedback from others with similar cars as to the proper position before I undertake a resolution process... The part in question is the front bolt on hood support bracket. The small piece that goes "over" the radiator and bolts on both sides. It appears to be pushed forward by quite a bit, thus causing the gap at the cowl... (See Pictures) I was hoping someone on here could post a picture of what it's supposed to look like, then I can follow it through and actually see what's bent and causing it to lean forward. Thanks in advance... appreciate your assistance...
  10. Good Afternoon... So in my saga of trying to find parts for my 1947 Dodge D24 Custom, I have come across a 1947 Chrysler Windsor. The Windsor is approx a 12hr drive from me, so hard to just pop over and have a look... I realize trim and fit and finish is different, but... My question is... Sheetmetal? Front doors to be exact... From the picture's they look the same, have the same extension of the front fender into the door, etc... But are they the same? Will any other parts work? It's a complete car... so might be worth my time if I can use stuff off it? Any thought's or experience swapping from these models? Thanks in advance...
  11. I will graciously accept all blame… lol thank you so much! Those are exactly what I was looking for. Rob
  12. Thanks, I am located in Canada myself ( Vancouver Island, British Columbia) so shipping may not be that bad? worth a look?
  13. That looks amazing.... And gives me a starting point... Thank you!
  14. Thanks, I really appreciate that... Basically if you can get me the starting points of the X-Brace from the fenderwell, or maybe the corner of the decklid to the center point of the support metal? Both at the Decklid height and the floor height, I can get close to how it should look. Agreed, if I'm building a custom seat in place of original, it may not matter, but it would be nice to get it as close as possible to the original locations...
  15. Good Morning guys, So my car came to me from the previous owner with a "bed" built into the back of the car... obviously he removed the back seat in its entirety, and in the process also cut out the supports from the rear decklid to the floor. So, this obviously raises a couple questions... 1. Does anyone have any pictures or measurements of where the "X" brace support pieces need to be welded back in? I'd like to replace it for support. 2. Anyone have any idea on what will work/fit for a back seat? I'd like to start taking the kids cruising... I am able to fabricate mounts, etc... just wondering what others have done for rear seats? Hoping someone has found a modern seat that will fit with a little fabrication so I can hit the junk yards this weekend... Thanks in advance... Rob.
