Aaron Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Does anyone know of a place to get these clip nuts that are used for example on the front baffle under the hood? I have gone to everyplace in town and can't find anything that will take its place so I can use the original screws which is also in the picture I have attached. Thanks, Aaron Quote
Young Ed Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 You need a well stocked hardware store. I belive the term for those are clip nuts. Have also heard speed nuts. Quote
Dodgeb4ya Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I`ve had the same problem W/ those truck clips used on the rear hood mount . The screws/bolts are a special worm thread. Never have found a proper speed nut/clip for the bolt. Ended up getting them off another truck. Quote
kevinanderson Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I ended up taking them off a parts truck too Quote
MBF Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 If you have a store that specializes in fasteners you may find them or a workable replacement if you take your samples with you. I did like the others and harvested mine off a parts vehicle. You may also want to try automotive swap meets. Mike Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 McMaster Carr has them. Follow the link and do a search for speed nuts. http://www.mcmaster.com/ Quote
Vintrader Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Most ACE HARDWARE stores have a very good hardware section these days. I have found them there. My grandfather called the Tinerman Clips? Dutch Quote
Merle Coggins Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Most hardware stores have the J-nuts or speed nuts, but they're for regular threaded bolts. These will work, but if you want to use the original hardware your only option is from a parts truck. I was looking for some last year and ran into the same walls. Restoration Specialists had a few, but not exactly what I needed. They said that they had a large washer attached to them. The thread on those bolts is called Acme Thread. I've not been able to find any current source for them. You'll either have to go rob some from a bone yard truck, or find someone with extras from a parts truck. Merle Quote
