Arthur1947 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Thought I'd try to work with some digital media. This one took about fifteen hours. I had to use some subject matter I was passionate about. Best. ARTHUR[/img] Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 ARTHUR, That looks great. Dennis:cool: Quote
greg g Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 So is he taking the wheel off or puttin it on???? You know al those years back in the 60's of painting wheels a contrasting color, I never would hav thought of matching them to my sneaks. Of course mine were Red Ball Jets. Do you mind if we use it for a desk top?? Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Of course mine were Red Ball Jets. I had red ball jets too but they were white not red. Quote
Ed Griffin Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Neat picture! Reminds me of the investment company commercials, digital over actual pictures or something like that. Hadn't messed with this media before. Showing it means it's ok to critique it hopefully. Wouldnt the shoe strings be on a angle since they cross over each other and the bottom string would have both straight across and an angled string? Makes it look like velcro straps other than shoe strings the way it is. Been painting, drawing, etc. most of my life and have a habit of looking for mistakes, etc. Wouldn't know the first thing about how to work this media but it really does look neat. Quote
Young Ed Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Since no one else mentioned it I'm just going to point out that besides the colors it looks like Don Cs engine. Long 6 with dual carbs and exhaust. Picture looks good. And I will admit to just looking at my feet to see if my shoe laces look as Ed described them Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 What.....didn't you guys back in the 50s or 60s make your shoe laces go straight across??? I recall doing it on regular shoes, but can't recall if I did sneakers that way also. Quote

Reg Evans Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Looks like this engine to me. A Canadian long block eh. Do I win anything? Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 YUP ! PS Arthur.......I really like the art work !.............It really = Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 it looks like Don Cs engine. Long 6 with Ed; Why do you see a long block like my engine? Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 but can't recall if Idid sneakers that way also. Bob; Did you wear something besides sneakers in those days? Quote
Young Ed Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Ed;Why do you see a long block like my engine? Short block intakes don't have the 4 manifold bolts go through them. They go into blind holes. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Short block intakes don't have the 4 manifold bolts go through them. They go into blind holes. Good observation! Is this picture my engine? Quote
Reg Evans Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Don and Ed, I think it's Arthur's long block in his Canadian 47 Plymouth. Notice the flex tube forward exhaust pipe. It just shows in his artwork behind the pants cuff. Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 7, 2008 Report Posted April 7, 2008 Reg; You are right as to be expected:D Quote
Arthur1947 Posted April 8, 2008 Author Report Posted April 8, 2008 Don and Ed, I think it's Arthur's long block in his Canadian 47 Plymouth. Notice the flex tube forward exhaust pipe. It just shows in his artwork behind the pants cuff. That's right Reg, it's a longblock and that exhaust is for temporary use only. Best. ARTHUR Quote
David Maxwell Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 ...for my students. BTW, my kids call them Chucks (Converse) and many of them lace their shoes just as Arthur shows them. I wear "Chucks" most of the time myself now and might try lacing mine that way lol! Quote
Normspeed Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Really neat. I put it in my screensaver. What software do you use, Photoshop? Quote
Uncle-Pekka Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Superb picture! True artwork! The colors, light, layout - it is really top notch. but not least, the machine itself is a beauty as well: Interesting how the contours of intake/exhaust manifold correspont to the shapes of the arm - the graphic style brings it out. From a car buff point of view: Funny how good the bias ply tires do look. They simply add the periodic look +++ Red wheels tell you clearly: Hot Rod. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I had red ball jets too but they were white not red.Now don, would you explain the meaning of red ball....jets:eek: Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Hi Authur, great photo. I used to love the look of "all stars" and kaki's as a kid. Mom would never buy me any, said Blue tips were more dignified:mad: Got me a summer job and bought me some pro keds, PF flyer's:eek: the chicks went wild! Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Now don, would you explain the meaning of red ball....jets:eek: Depends on wear (pun intended) you are from. Sneekers, Fisheads, Bobos, Tennis shoes, Basketball shoes, Gym shoes, Jeepers, and many more. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Depends on wear (pun intended) you are from. Sneekers, Fisheads, Bobos, Tennis shoes, Basketball shoes, Gym shoes, Jeepers, and many more. Don, Now you're showing your age, especially for those prices. We only wore those shoes in gym class. Any other time I wore Penny Loafers. Even so, back then you could get a real good pair of all leather uppers and soles of penny loafers for between $5.00 and $7.00. Of course that was back when the dollar was really worth a dollar. Quote
