jd52cranbrook Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 I am running Vintage Air Super in the P23, it has four outlets besides the heat and defroster outlets, (two apiece). It fit OK, but the ductwork was cumbersome at best. I ended up blocking off one the outputs and put a Y when I got to the destination. When I get to the in D24 I think I may go to their Mini, which has three outlets besides the defroster and heat. Sorry I don't have BTU available The P23 dash is pretty short as far depth. But they do have manual, and electric options. Quote
greg g Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 I think John Burke put a Vintage Air all in one in his 49 Dodge. I believe he said it went in pretty slick. Send him a PM. Quote
james curl Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Try "Old Air" in Fort Worth, Texas, or "Hot Rod Air" in Selma, Texas. The man who started "Hot Rod Air" used to be an engineer for "Vintage Air" in San Antonio, Texas. I have seen quite a few "Old Air" products installed in early pick ups which do not have much under dash room. I think all three are now making the old style under dash add on units. I think they come with heater and defroster functions also. Quote
windsor8 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Have you checked out the GEN II Mini from Vintage Air? The dimensions are close to what you're looking for. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 I got the manual with the specs here, can scan and post them if you want later tonight.,,,, but you should be able find the info on their web site. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 http://www.vintageair.com/catalog.asp Just click on the page you want. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Not sure what you mean by no controls defined. Pages 26-29 I think have them. Some are mechanical, some servo controlled. Have to investigate I think. I am off to a meet, but will be back later to scan what I have. I bought mine direct. They were pretty helpful over the phone. Quote
james curl Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Tim, I usually see the people from Old Air the last week end in April at the Pate Swap Meet at Texas Motor Speedway. That is a long way off so will not do you much good now but if you have not decided by then let me know and I will pick up the information. Also there is Antique Air in Cleburne, Texas. I have not seen one of their ads in some time so they might not exist anymore. For some reason Texas seems to be a hot bed for after market AC units. I wonder why that would be? Would it be because it was only in the 90s on Friday and Saturday the 14 and 15 of March? Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Your probably better off calling to get the BTUs, they are not listed in my hard copy either. (Probably a well keep secret) The physical specs are on the online catalog. Good luck Quote
hkestes41 Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Tim, I have Southern Air's Maxi II Heat/Air with electric controls. IIt's not installed yet so I can't tell you how it works but thought I would throw it out there. http://www.southernrods.com/categories/heating-and-cooling/heating-and-cooling-systems/products/product-1978.html Here is a cooling guide that I found from Street Rodder magazine. While it is basically an advertisement for the manufacturers there is some good info. http://www.streetrodderweb.com/tech/0706sr_cooling_guide/index.html Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Thats a lot of BTU. Let us know how it turns out. Quote

jd52cranbrook Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 A shorter one, yes. But mostly because I ran a vent to the right of the glove box, and the duct work took some room away. The actual unit sits just to the right of center. Quote
knuckleharley Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 >>Tim Adams;67986] Also retaining the fresh air cowl duct was a prime goal..<< You have fresh air cowl ducts in your 41? Did you install them? I have been thinking about cutting the fresh air ducts from a modern car and welding them into the cowl of my P-15. Is that what you did? Or are you talking about using the fresh air cowl duct in the center of the car right in front of the windshield divider bar as a fresh air intake for your heater and ac system? If you are,are you using a little motor to open and close the vent? How do you keep rain out when it's raining and you are using the system? Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I hooked up my cowl vent to a electrical motor, with a hidden button, got rid of the linkage altogether. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 I retained the original lever knob and such only modified it ..it is the cowl vent center top as factory...unlike the Plymouth that has the linkage all the way to the left side the Dodge is just the opposite.. Quote
