jd52cranbrook Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 This car is located in East San Jose Foothills. It's all there, some rust, but looks like its never been hit. I have a single car garage, even so I was looking to tear down my side fence to put it on a pad in the back. But in reality it would mean a couple of summers of work again. But you have it cheap I am sure. Anyone??? Somebody twists my arm a little more, and I may take it. I like the year and the suicide doors. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I'm a twisting..if the price is right and you have storage space..you should come out alright in the long run...solid looking puppy..the east coasters would call this one cherry... Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 It's beautiful. I'd take it in a minute. Looks like it needs a new interior and a paint job. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Yeah the interior needs all new upholstery. And like I say there is some rust, so some repair is needed. I wish I learned to weld. Never knew these things had windshield washers. I'm thinking. And here I was just getting really happy with my 52. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I just noticed the windshield washers..I see the factory backup light but the dash is dark ...is that the switch I see on the left of the starter button? Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Can't you get it and keep your 52? Tell your wife that all the guys on the forum said it was OK. That should take care of everything. Quote

That should take care of everything. Well heck, why didnt I think of that,,,,,,,,, Made the pic a bit brighter,, I think, Dont see a switch. I only spent about 15 min looking at it. Just enough for me to want it. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 thanks..makes me wonder where they put the switch..the turn signals are not stock..the indicator is high beam only...I guess what I am really saying is that there seems to be no rhyme nor reason on how these cars were equipted...being a Deluxe model..these were probably added at the dealer after purchase.. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 for all the D24 fans...what years had the gold insert on the horn ring and center dash and what years had the silver...this time I will try to commit this to memory Quote
Heavy Flat Head Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I think we would ALL sign a permission slip!!!! PM me your permission slip and I will be glad to sign. Remember fences are made to be removed from time to time. Ed/ Quote
wayfarer Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 Any idea on the 'purchase price' ?? Even being 1000 miles away it has me thinking.... Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I drove from middle Georgia to north of Indy to grab my last Dodge (Town Sedan)...the other Town sedan I got was 972 miles..was there and back in just a tad under 46 hours...the Plymouth come from even further north but it is only made its way to south Indiana..at a friends house, will see Coatney on that retrieve..the other Dodge is closer and will only have to treck to a border state...that should be this weekend if we don't get bad weather...I say, fish or cut bait when it comes to good deals..I plan to have a number of these at the house for when I retire... jd52cranbrook Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Went out back to figure out logistics, I run a small remodel company from home so already have storage that I need to expand to make room for another pad to sit the car on, then tent it. I am a owner of a 1948 D24 either Deluxe or Custom as far as I can figure. Has the 119 wheel base, just looks bigger to me. I paid 850, more than I wanted to but it includes two free tows. So,, I'm gonna need those notes from all you guys for my lady,,,,,, She will need something to read while I am in the side yard grinning while filthy. Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 That's great! Man, I'm tickled about it and I'm 3,000 miles away. As far as your wife is concerned, I'm behind you all the way. Until she starts throwing things. Then you're on your own. Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted February 26, 2008 Author Report Posted February 26, 2008 Any good advice, (that is free,,,,,), on the restore of this beast. I will tell you now it will not be all correct. Im going 12 volts, maybe front disc brakes, but in general I want it to be stock looking at least. Quote
Don Coatney Posted February 26, 2008 Report Posted February 26, 2008 I drove from middle Georgia to north of Indy to grab my last Dodge (Town Sedan)...the other Town sedan I got was 972 miles..was there and back in just a tad under 46 hours...the Plymouth come from even further north but it is only made its way to south Indiana..at a friends house, will see Coatney on that retrieve..the other Dodge is closer and will only have to treck to a border state...that should be this weekend if we don't get bad weather...I say, fish or cut bait when it comes to good deals..I plan to have a number of these at the house for when I retire... Tim; My trip to Virginia is off. When are you heading north? I might join you on the pickup. Wonder if Richie is up for a trip? Quote
RobertKB Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 I'm really glad you got the car. $850 is a steal especially with the tows. That is a sweet car at a sweet price. Glad you went fishing! Quote
JerseyHarold Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 John, Way to go on the Dodge! Keep us posted on your progress. And don't neglect the Cranbrook...Plymouths have feelings too. Harold Quote
Flatie46 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 How about puting your company name on the door then maybe this fine automoble will be a tax write off. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 She be a deluxe with some options added after the sale...excellent price for the car..you will be happy with that..this is one of the few rare deals still left out there...GOOD FIND Quote
jd52cranbrook Posted February 27, 2008 Author Report Posted February 27, 2008 Thanks everyone. Good idea about my company name on the car. I'm getting jazzed now. It gets delivered the end of next week, so I will have time to pour concrete and tent it. One of the two tows was going to be to a steam cleaner for a good bath. Darn thing cost almost half of what the car cost me. But hopefully it will kill any snakes and black widows,,, I brightened up the rest of the original pics. Again, thanks, and I will keep you posted. And hopefully not bore you all with too many questions. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 congrats on a nice find! so not typical of a Carolina car.... here, they're either rusted away from salt air or pine needles. there used to be a bunch of these in Central Va when i was a kid in the late 60's early 70's. faded away during the gas crunch...
