Merle Coggins Posted April 12 Report Posted April 12 Does anyone know the bulb number for these heater fan switches? Mine never had one as long as I’ve had this truck. I’d like to add one, but not sure what fits in there. Quote
Los_Control Posted April 12 Report Posted April 12 Your socket looks different then mine .... I have 2 switches and they both look different also .... I'm guessing they use the same bulb though. I am also 12V. The replacement bulb I bought from napa is a 3J53 ... looks like 53 is the actual bulb number, no idea what the 3J is for. My original switch does not work, so I bought a 12V replacement switch and the bulbs interchange ... the new switch, bulb just says 12V9W ... no number. So possibly 53 if you are 12V, or convert it to get the 6V version. Quote
JBNeal Posted Monday at 12:07 AM Report Posted Monday at 12:07 AM How'bout: 51 or 55 for 6V 53 or 57 for 12V 1 Quote
Merle Coggins Posted Monday at 06:08 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 06:08 PM Thanks guys. I have some 51 bulbs ordered up. Should have them today. In fact I just checked my Amazon account and it shows that they are sitting on the porch. I'll give one a test fit after work today. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted Monday at 09:26 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 09:26 PM So, it would seem that this switch doesn’t illuminate, as I always though. Upon further inspection it is not a bulb socket. And the inside of the knob is all brass, so there is no way for the light to get out. I’m sure I’ve seen some of these heater fan switches that would glow when turned on. I guess this isn’t one of those. Oh well… I guess I have a stash of #51 bulbs now. Quote
Los_Control Posted Monday at 09:56 PM Report Posted Monday at 09:56 PM Thats too bad, at least it works .... I suppose it is needed to have the knob come off to access the mounting nut. Since the heaters were put on after trucks were built ... no telling who used what. While a light is nice, I'm usually in bed sleeping by the time my vehicles need the lights on. Quote
JBNeal Posted Monday at 10:33 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:33 PM Maybe that concealed cavity is where ya hide a suitcase key 🤔 1 Quote

Yah, FEF's switch glows when on...the more heat the brighter the light... Quote
