Kindness of strangers

Yesterday I took my 9 year old grandson to a car show. Two different owners asked him to sit in the driver’s seat of their cars for a picture. The smile on his face was priceless. I’ve always opened my car to anyone who wants to sit down and see what it’s like. I encourage all of you to do this especially for kids. A simple gesture can lead to a lifetime car enthusiast and that’s what our hobby needs.

We did this very thing to an 11 year old boy named Abram at a car show. He asked many questions and hovered around our car for 20 minutes. He then left with his Father and Grandfather. about 1 hour later he was back. I tell you that smile on his face was priceless. I asked him if he wanted to sit in the Car. WOW! he loved it. then off he went to see the other attractions. About 4 hours later he came by again on his way out. He was the most polite young man and my thought was as Doug&Deb said, "A simple gesture can lead to a lifetime car enthusiast and that’s what our hobby needs."

That's awesome.  When I went to the POC meet in Port Huron, MI a while back, the owners of a pristine '35 Plymouth rumble seat coupe insisted that our granddaughter, 5 at the time, sit in the rumble seat for a picture.  The little ones see how much some people dote on their cars, yet still share the experience with others.  It not only gets them interested but helps teach them respect for others and their property.
