I've searched and searched but can't find a diagram with this particular torque shaft linkage set up. I think I'm missing parts also. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. First pics are of torque shaft and engine side ball mount, I know I need bushings for that side (can't find them in the trunk where everything else was thrown?) second pic is shifter arms, the one on the side now hits the floor and won't move up to fully engage. Rear mounts to tall? Came from bernbaums. Thanks in advance. Also would like to be pointed in the right direction for proper manuals? Quote

The flat spot in the hole only lets them go on one way. I can't find any similar, numbers on my trans indicate standard 3 spd. How tall should rear mounts be? Thanks Quote

From what I can see in your photo the trans mounts look correct if they are resting on the frame crossmember. The photo I attached previously shows the mounts I installed if you look closely. I don't envy you assembling this car that was taken apart by someone else.....I have a hard enough time putting mine back together after I have slept a night or two! ? Spoke with the previous owner and he says it was driven to the shop like this, I kind of think the one arm is bent or something? yeah I'm the guy that they give the box of bolts and parts and say figure it out. At the same time doing a 12 volt conversion adding ac? these are correct body mounts? You say these rear mounts are right also? Looks like I'll barely have room for the e brake whenever I receive the lining as close as it is to the floor? Thanks, can't wait for the manual to arrive. Quote

That is quite the project! Front is new also from bernbaum, looks exactly like the one that came out. Yes it's getting a full resto. The old rear ones were so oil soaked and smushed they were half the height of these new ones. I think I'm gonna just trim some off til I get good clearance on the shift arms. Thanks alot, that manual will be a great plus. Will pass it on with the vehicle when it's finished. Quote

andyd Posted November 30, 2022 Report Posted November 30, 2022 Dunno if this info will help re the clutch shaft bushings which originally are a split bushing made of diecast that fit around the ball then the two bushings are held onto the ball with some grease and inserted into the hole in the torque shaft....that piece in your hand bolts onto the side of the bellhousing from memory.........NOW THIS MAY HELP................here in OZ when Oz Chrysler made RHD manual gearbox Valiants from 1961-1981 the clutch mechanism used the exact same bushing in the same arrangement BUT these bushings were made of a white nylon or plastic, same 2 piece bushing, same size, width etc and were a direct replacement for the earlier diecast metal bushings..........I do not know whether mother mopar used these in the USA for Valiants but it maybe worth checking............regards from Oz.........andyd Quote
