Steering wheel nut

Does any body know what the thread size is on a '47 Desoto steering wheel shaft? I have an 11/16"-18 die but that is too coarse. I have to repair the threads on the shaft end due to someone getting a little to mean with a puller in the past. I have a new old stock nut. Looks like it could be a 20 or 24 but I want to make sure. Thanks.

46 47 48 Dodge parts book shows 5/8 ths - 18.  I used this size die to clean up mine.

Note:  7 pass and Limo  used 3/4 -20

Possible Desoto is the same?

Idk if the thread is the same but I just fixed my 47 truck shaft by making a crude split die. I bought a nut the right size and cut it on half(I also had to make it thinner but that depends on how much good thread you have). Then put the two haves back together and work your way backwards towards the damaged thread.

I’ve done the same using a die. Much harder to cut in two but will handle more thread damage.   I put on below the damage and tack welded both  cuts.  Used a hex die so turning it off with a wrench was easy.

A nut was much cheaper :) and I just used a 6 pt socket to hold the 2 halves back together. The slight gap I think gave a spot for gunk to escape
