keithb7 Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 I am attempting to fill in a couple blanks here in this partial list of Mopar engine sizes. I am not 100% sure the cylinder head lengths. Can anyone confirm my posted cylinder head lengths here? Also maybe fill in a few blanks? Thanks. Andydodge Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 (edited) Keith the 2nd one, 217.8 is also a 23" engine, it with the 201 and 230 are the only three 23" engines..........everything else is a 25" engine including the 241 cube engine............as for compression ratios the last of the 230 Plymouth/Dodge engines had 8:1 compression.............andyd Edited February 21, 2020 by Andydodge Quote
dpollo Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 241 may be 25 inches But, if it was built between 1934 to 37 it is a very different engine from all the others. Recognizable because it shows the outline of the cylinders. Quote
DJK Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 My book shows 217.8 cu. in comp ratio: 46-48 = 6.8 to 1, 49-52 = 7.0 to 1, 53-54 = 7.1 to 1 Quote
Pete Posted February 23, 2020 Report Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) Hi Keith, This might help. It's a chart I recently put together for the Plymouth & Dodge 23" engines from 1934 through 1959. I made it because I was trying to figure out where all the bits on my engine came from, and what performance increases I might get. I sourced the stats from Mopar parts manuals, Motor manuals, and some online. I think it's pretty accurate, but not perfect. And additions or corrections thankfully received.
