Mike 1948 1Ton
Maybe its just mine, but whenever my hands are wet and drive the truck, my hands get black and sticky (from the bake-lite?). Should I just paint it with some rattle can enamel?
Plymouthy Adams
if you use a rattle can might I suggest an epoxy...….

ggdad1951
I used a good enamel rattle can and it's held up 7+ years. 1
Ralph Pearce
I used a good enamel after repairing some cracks, then put a good cover on it (protects and also fattens the grip). Topped it off with a high quality spinner knob and have been very pleased.
Radarsonwheels
Have you tried simple green? I think mine had seventy years of grease and human skin on it. Maybe brakleen on a rag for starters to cut the worst?

There are wheel repair kits out there (I used a POR product on FEF). You V out the crack, fill it with an epoxy sand down and refinish.
FlashBuddy
Thanks Mark. Sounds fun. Bought the epoxy putty on Amazon. Can't wait to get started. Edited September 27, 2019 by FlashBuddy
MBF
I wouldnt use brakeclean on a steering wheel as a prep. I think a wax and grease remover would be kinder to the Bakelite. I unsend epoxy to repair both of mine and then rattle canned w a clear coat. Both are holding up well
