I see some loose rust in my tank and see someone has some epoxy or some kinda patch on the bottom so I think I'm just going to buy a new one. I see 2 options available. One from tanks Inc. And one from mopar pro. The one from tanks Inc. Is 15 gal and don't look like the original style but it's a little cheaper. The one from mopar pro looks like my old tank  (at least in the pics) and holds 17 gallons. I'm leaning towards the mopar pro option, anyone had any issues with the mopar pro tank? Thanks

I believe Kanter offers a tank also.

Thanks, just looked them up...not many details on there site about there tank. I wonder if it's the same manufacturer mopar pro gets there's from? I also just noticed the mopar pro tank states it's powder coated and does not make any claim about it being zinc coated metal. Surely it's not bare metal on the inside but I wouldn't think power coating would hold up inside a gas tank.  I'm not sure you can powder coat the inside of a tank. Any ideas?

keep a gas cap on it, and water out of the fuel when filling....you should do fine......will outlast you I would think...

My biggest concern is that fine rust dust that gets by the filters, what I'm seeing now. Even trying to follow your advice I can see condensation forming on the top of the tank and rusting. Sure it won't rust through during my life time but I'd prefer it was protected metal. I'm probably over thinking the whole thing......

I installed a new tank and while it is still virgin metal inside, the outside I did prep and paint.  On my application the very problem is the tarpaper coating between the tank and body...traps dust and dirt, traps water, dust and dirt keeps wetter longer...rot is you end result.  Of the last 5 vehicles I have dropped the tank...this has been my finding.  Top goes first.

I bought my tanks inc tank about 6 years ago, not a replica but a generic tank that fits and performs well.

The first thing I did was scuff the outside of the tank and then applied bed liner.....used rubber between the bands and the tank itself, I've got zero problems with rust.:)

I use a product called StayBil 360 inmy 39 desoto. It is a new product made by stBil and when the fluid mixes witht he gas it makes a vapor to coat the upper portion of the metal tank to prevent rust from forming and also keeps the tank clean and also the fuel lines and acts as a cleaning agent for the carb. Best price is a Walmart they have the cheapest cost.

For those interested, I asked a question to mopar pro about the inside of there tank and here's there response.

Hello Scott,

Thanks for your interest.

The inside is zinc coated galvanized steel which will last a lifetime.

Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions.

Regards,
MoPar Pro

So even though tanks inc looks to be a great tank, I think I'll go with the original style and get the mopar pro tank.
