'41 Fat Bottom Girl Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 When I rebuild my flathead 6- What was the original color for the engine? I don't need to have an exact color, just to know if it was green or tan, or other- Just don't want to do something like Chevy orange (nuttin' against Chevys, but I like this car being old Mopar!) Plymouthy Adams Posted May 6, 2019 Report Posted May 6, 2019 The Rustoleum silver in brush on is spot on and easy to apply and touch up as it ages.... Quote

DJ194950 Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 Same colors for block and head I chose so I like it! lol. I like the contrast in colors to show off a clean motor, at least it used to be! ? That is, as long as you used Mopar Red!! ? DJ 1 Quote
'41 Fat Bottom Girl Posted May 10, 2019 Author Report Posted May 10, 2019 Thanx for the pix, everybody. Great food for thought. My rims, paint & seats aren't original, so what the heck- I sure do like the silver and red combo! Beautiful engine compartment, Cold Blue. Bronze and silver is cool too...decisions, decisions, decisions... 1 Quote
hansen Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 De Soto 1941,,,,,maybe too much silver! This is 20 years ago. Today I would do it with more black. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 10, 2019 Report Posted May 10, 2019 (edited) If you find the list of colors for various parts of a 40s Mopar (which I believe is in the reference section of this forum) it will probably say engine silver and accessories black. That's what mine is. I used POR 20 made by the POR 15 company in high heat aluminum (kinda shiny) and got a can so could apply with a brush. Has held up pretty well... Better than any spray can I ever used. But....to each his own. Found this in our reference section.....I suppose there should be one for a Dodge as well....but it probably would be very similar.
