pflaming
Last evening I misplaced or lost my hearing aid. I'm deaf without it. It's strange in that when I remove it and know where it is, deafness doesn't bother me, but when I realized I could not find it, I got sick to my stomach, such as if I had just lost a friend! I didn't realize one can have an emotional attachment to an inanimate object.

I feel the man's pain as they say, I just don't want any induced pain as a result of his hearing loss. I told him point blank that was my reasoning and he realizes and agrees in the truth in what I am saying.
kencombs
Know the feeling. I've worn aids in both ears for over 45 years and the difference is amazing. still can't feel comfortable on the phone however, many words just sound to similar if I can't see lips move. Misunderstandings can easily occur, that's why most of my business dealings are via email. Printed word is much more error free!
Plymouthy Adams
I hope no one thinks I am picking on the hearing impaired with my statement....far from the truth...I was helping with some trouble shooting and taking voltage reading....I told him in a loud enough voice to turn off the key....instead he turned the key to start...while bumped by the fan..no damage THIS TIME......I vowed not to be a next time...to that end is the reason for my statement above....you must protect yourself when others around you cannot hear your every word. There are some that hear but chose to ignore....that is another topic altogether....
pflaming
Found the hearing aid. What a relief! TKS for the responses though. One day the battery went dead while driving, it's a strange feeling to drive and not hear the sounds of the car. I always listen to my cars.
