casper50 Posted December 24, 2019 Author Report Posted December 24, 2019 Many things cost more in shipping to get here than the part cost. Have to be creative for sure. Quote

And that's also where I tend to draw the line, when the shipping cost is more than that of the needed part...and I wait, hoping to find a better price, not always - sometimes though I've been lucky.☺️ Quote
casper50 Posted December 29, 2019 Author Report Posted December 29, 2019 Well tried to install the windshield and found out that they sent the wrong one. Sent a 2 door ht. It won't fit my wagon. Quote

Frustrating when this happens but always remember there are worse things in life. Quote
casper50 Posted January 15, 2020 Author Report Posted January 15, 2020 Started repairing the bumpers for powder coating. They are pretty rough. These are the rear guards. Quote
Jim Yergin Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 That is very nice and impressive work. Jim Yergin Quote
casper50 Posted January 15, 2020 Author Report Posted January 15, 2020 Thanks Jim. What made it hard is that the mounting plate goes across the back right behind the dent. Quote
RobertKB Posted January 15, 2020 Report Posted January 15, 2020 I agree, nice work. Powder coat instead of chrome. Is there a powder coat out there that looks like chrome? Rear bumper guards are probably damaged as it is a GM product and likely needed some help by pushing when it wouldn't start or broke down.. LOL As I've stated earlier in this thread, I like the '55 and '56 Pontiacs! I always enjoy your posts. Quote
casper50 Posted January 15, 2020 Author Report Posted January 15, 2020 Thanks Robert. The powder coats are getting closer to chrome look alike. Not quite there but to rechrome the ones I have would cost way more than it would be worth. https://thepowdercoatstore.com/products/kromezone-chrome-powder-coat Quote
casper50 Posted January 15, 2020 Author Report Posted January 15, 2020 My wife usually calls me an A word also. It's not that one though. Thanks. Quote
casper50 Posted January 29, 2020 Author Report Posted January 29, 2020 Worked on the chrome extensions for the chrome lip on the hood. Quote

casper50 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Report Posted January 31, 2020 I was able to finish installing the windshield. What a pain with only 1 person. Quote
Todd B Posted January 31, 2020 Report Posted January 31, 2020 You could move it to my nice big heated shop in Wisconsin and I would be able to give you a hand whenever needed. Quote
casper50 Posted January 31, 2020 Author Report Posted January 31, 2020 I always muddle through. Thanks though. lol Quote
casper50 Posted February 4, 2020 Author Report Posted February 4, 2020 Got some more upholstery back. Quote
RobertKB Posted February 5, 2020 Report Posted February 5, 2020 Every little piece makes a difference on the way to finishing a project. I love the old saying --- "You can eat an elephant..........one bite at a time." It certainly applies to old car restoration! Never think of the project as a whole when starting. Just work on one thing at a time and it eventually gets there. You are getting pretty close! Quote

You have to take them back to the state you bought them in....lol. Honey we won a hundred on the lottery! But we have to drive back to New Mexico to claim it......sigh. Quote
casper50 Posted February 13, 2020 Author Report Posted February 13, 2020 Picked up the door panels yesterday. Quote
RobertKB Posted February 14, 2020 Report Posted February 14, 2020 That's going to be a very fine looking interior! Quote
RobertKB Posted March 9, 2020 Report Posted March 9, 2020 Always enjoy your videos. Won't be too long before it's on the road. Do you have a rough idea how long it will be? One word of advice, you'll need to fix the right front tire as it's looking pretty flat. LOL ? Quote
