BobDeSoto Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 I am working on the tip toe transmission in a 1951 DeSoto. Where can I get a new wiring harness? Quote

They put out a quality product and I have delt with them before. Rich Hartung Desoto1939@aol.com 1 Quote
dpollo Posted February 7, 2018 Report Posted February 7, 2018 I can vouch for Rhode Island, but the M 6 or Tip Toe has only about 3 wires, it is pretty simple to make. Quote
Conn47D24 Posted February 11, 2018 Report Posted February 11, 2018 RI Wiring is the place to call. Send them your old set and they'll reproduce it. Quote
BobDeSoto Posted March 10, 2018 Author Report Posted March 10, 2018 got one from YNZ - looks great. Tip Toe transmission is a DeSoto thing. Two speed transmission with high and low range (= four speed). Low range is seldom used. Usually you drive with the high range. Once in gear you don't need to use the clutch. Press the gas and go, when you are at about 20 mph let up on the gas and it shifts into high. When you come to a stop sign you only have to use the brake, even when you're stopped. When the light changes - repeat Quote
keithb7 Posted March 10, 2018 Report Posted March 10, 2018 Many names for this transmission. Chrysler Fluid Torque drive. Plymouth Hy-Drive. Desoto Tip-Toe. Dodge Simplimatic. All the same I believe. Sturdy rugged simple tranny. Quote
dpollo Posted March 11, 2018 Report Posted March 11, 2018 The Hydrive was not a semi automatic . It was a three speed manual driven by a torque converter. Quote
