Thomba48 Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 Just an interesting question to the electric minded guys in the forum: Would it be possible to connect a 12 Volt carb (the choke of course) to an original 6 Volt positive ground set-up, e.g. by using a voltage converter? thanks Quote
dpollo Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 Sure you could connect it, but that does not mean it will work. This seems like a very cumbersome way to accomplish something that is less effective than what your car had as original equipment. Quote
greg g Posted August 5, 2017 Report Posted August 5, 2017 Does the electric connection close the choke or pull it open as temp goes normal while driving? Quote

DJ194950 Posted August 6, 2017 Report Posted August 6, 2017 (edited) A stock manifold choke 6volt choke setup has worked fine on my car 12 volt for several years, just make sure to run a 10gauge or a least 12g. as it does draw some amps. It only is electrically activated when cranking the motor over, after that the temperature spring inside of unit will keep it somewhat closed (temp dependent) until the manifold heats it up where it will gradually open. Very basic description. If different that a stock carb/choke - then as Plymouthy says- it all depends-- DJ Edited August 6, 2017 by DJ194950 Quote
Thomba48 Posted August 6, 2017 Author Report Posted August 6, 2017 Thanks - the matter is closed (I still have found no way to delete posts that I once initiated in the end). I have been talking to many local guys and my thoughts (that I not even put into the right words) need to go back into the drawing board for further clarifications. thanks again Quote
