I had the 6 volt battery die in the 37 Hudson today. Since I will need a new battery I was thinking on getting this heavy duty tractor battery and putting it in the C28 and moving the lower capacity to the Hudson.

The battery is long around 13" and weighs 48 pounds but has high cold cranking and lots of reserve. It is and Exide at Tractor Supply. Any draw backs to going this route?

I have an Excide group 1 that has 750 CCA rating,  I think this is my 3rd over the last 12 years.  Works fine and fits where it is intended to,

I do use the above mentioned 6 volt 950 cold cranking amps group 4 battery in my straight "8" cars and two of my trucks....they last me about 6 years.

The group 4 has tons more cranking power and longevity than the  group 1 and 2 battery's.

The group  2's are OK for the smaller six cylinder Ply/Dodge/Desoto and Chrysler engines. The group 1's I won't use anymore.

I Have had to make nice  looking 13" long hold downs for my group 4 batterys and easy enough for me.

I just got a Super Start Fleet Battery, group 1, from the local O'Reilly's, for about 90 bucks. Add the 6 percent that Michigan tacks on, including the core charge, and it was about 97 bucks.

O'Reilly"s had two such batteries in stock, otherwise they would have had to order me one. The store is on Woodward in Royal Oak, in the heart of the Woodward Dream Cruise, which was mid-August.  For that occasion, they may sell a few 6-volt batteries to the old cruisers (for their old cars).

I picked up one of these batteries at TSC in Port Huron, MI. today $105 out the door, It had an aug 2016 transport date on it so it shouild be fresh. It just squeezed into the battery box area on the C28. I made a temporary battery tie down this evening, and will try her out tomorrow.
