Classified vs. For Sale/Wanted Threads

Recommended Posts

Honestly.....I enjoy the threads better than the classified section we had.

Reminds me of when we could post wanted stuff etc in the regular threads (circa 2012 / 13?).

I kinda feel like we should keep it, even when we get the updated classified version.

I mean the difference really shows up in the wanted ads, as members help define what it is the member is looking for.

But the comments in the for sale also helps answer question about what members here are trying to sell.

the classifieds as I see it should let a member know what is for sale or what they are looking for....communications and discussion leads to confusion as to if or if not the part has been spoken for or if tires are being kicked.....you curious, take it to PM and discuss with seller or buyer and keep the classified section clean.  By allowing the seller to enter data only allows updated points of detail and to mark when sold as in x time it will fall off anyway...

Actually you can post questions and responses to the Classified section, just like a forum.

It also provide some revenue to help operational costs for the site.

that was a test post....to get an idea how the new classifieds work....it did prove that any entry would NOT bump the ad ahead of another person's ad...to that end, the post did what it was intended to do...get insight to the newly adapted classifieds....I am the devil, not his advocate...ask anyone...

am on many forums...some you cannot reply to an ad as only the originator and the moderator can edit....these are great...locks you to take all the dickering to PM.  If anyone has an ad that generates a question of great interest, then the owner of the ad should edit and maintain the ad till sold or time expires for the listing.  Ads that allow responses often tend to get entries like PM sent, I will take it, etc  and kills any response a later reader may have and likely he will not inquire further.  Odds are he is thinking the part may not be available as negotiations are implied which sends the message that the part is spoken for but in reality the guy may turn out to be a tire kicker.  This limits the effectiveness of the ad in my opinion. I do not think there is a perfect suit everyone format...what works for some will ire others....so we learn to work within the parameters of the media...

as to generating revenue,  GTK must take advantage of these cost sharing opportunities....to that end I am not complaining....
