knuckleharley Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Since this is more of a heads up than it is a for sale ad,and it does NOT belong to me or anyone I know,I thought it might be ok to post it here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-1940-Chrysler-New-Yorker-convertible-straight-8-project-car-/322069978841?hash=item4afcddded9:g:rqIAAOSwjMJXCn7v&vxp=mtr I know nothing about the car that isn't in the ad on ebay,so don't PM me about it. I would like to hear if one of you ends up buying it,though. Looks like a possible deal to me. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 needs relocated to craigslist/ebay page..thanks 1 Quote
knuckleharley Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 needs relocated to craigslist/ebay page..thanks Yes,I understand that, but I also understand almost nothing ever seems to get sold there, and this is a very rare mopar that might be someone's dream car and they need to see it before it's sold or the auction ends. Plymouthy Adams Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I am going out on a limb here but I am of the opinion that the classified page needs to be listed with the rest of the pages just to make it more visible to the user. Clicking on the tabs on the top of the page is not something most folks do on daily, I know I do not look there unless looking for a specific. If relocated to the list of pages that would show all folks currently activity and promote the use of the classifieds. I will post this to GDK in a PM for his consideration. 3 Quote

Maybe even break it down into two sections, one link for members cars and parts for sale, and the other for non-members stuff that members find and post. The one restriction that should be maintained is any post must be Mopar related. If it's a junkyard/whatever that also sells other models that is ok,as long as the feature item is Mopar. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I have forwarded this to GTK already in form of PM. This could well clear up the posting issues and gain popularity for the classifieds at the same time. 1 Quote
knuckleharley Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 I have forwarded this to GTK already in form of PM. This could well clear up the posting issues and gain popularity for the classifieds at the same time. I hope so. The last thing I listed was a 100 percent complete 49 Windsor coupe for 950,and never even got a question on it. So I decided to just pull the engine to put in my 42 Dodge coupe, and probably part it out. Quote
normanpitkin Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Seems a shame that such a beautiful and rare car is broken up for parts ,hope someone buys it! Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I have posted ads here with no results but at the same time I was able to see that folks were reading the ad...just not able to help with the part in question I was trying to locate.. Quote
rb1949 Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I see 2 different topics going on here. A suggestion was made to move the post to the Ebay section. Which turned into a discussion about the classifieds. Each is different. Quote

Which turned into a discussion about the classifieds. Each is different. I think that was an initial observation of how things were supposed to be done, which evolved into suggestions about better/more efficient ways to do them. No real need to create separate Craigs List or Ebay categories if people can just create adds in the regular section. If it's for sale,it's for sale. Quote
deathbound Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 It's a link for an eBay ad....specific forum for that purpose. No grey area. The classifieds are for members. eBay/CL forum for links....members or non-members ads. I have used the classifieds with responses and parts exchanged, the classifieds work. If someone is looking for something they'll find, if they miss it, they weren't looking hard enough. Quote

wayfarer Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 (edited) Not sure that I understand the issues created when someone offers up some information with the possible hope of further conversation. The way I read the OP is that the ebay listing was not given so much as a sales pitch but as a start of some conversation. How many of you saw the listing before it was posted here? Personally, I think that for the money, a fella would be years ahead if he bought one of the cars at the BJ-Palm Beach auction instead. Some smokin' hot deals there. 40plyrod Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 Back to the car, I bet that radiator would be a hard one to replace if it was missing. Hopefully someone will step up and build it. Quote
knuckleharley Posted April 13, 2016 Author Report Posted April 13, 2016 Back to the car, I bet that radiator would be a hard one to replace if it was missing. Hopefully someone will step up and build it. No kidding. It would have to be custom built, and good luck finding one to use as a pattern if that one didn't come with it. I'm guessing the 40 straight 8 NY'er engine isn't easy to find anymore, either. It will surely be a beautiful and rare car if someone with the money to buy and fix it can pick it up before it gets parted out. Quote
