cobyworld Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 New to the hotrod world and to the forum. Looking for any kind of help with lowering my truck. Any advice or do's and don'ts would be greatly appreciated. It's on the original frame and suspension. I'd like to to keep it that way if possible. I'm using the flathead and 3speed trans. Would like it to be a little lower. Thanks for any input Quote
1952B3b23 Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Welcome to the forum. A moderator will have to move this thread over to the truck side of the forum. You accidentally posted on the car side. You can lower the front of the truck by getting the axle dropped 3". More info here : http://www.droppedaxles.com The rear can be dropped by moving the axle so it mounts on top of the leaf springs instead of underneath. This probably requires the frame to be c-notched for clearance. How low do you want to go? -Chris Quote
deathbound Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) If you flip the rear axle to the top of the leaf springs, you'll have to move the spring pads the bottom of the axle. If you're not going to carry anything heavy in the back, you might be able to get away with removing a couple leafs. Edited December 8, 2015 by deathbound Quote

Merle Coggins Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 (edited) You could always go with the Kaleco Auto Lowering Kit... http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=7&products_id=13&zenid=rDGI2ZmZAglc,P8mAQYVg2 Edited December 8, 2015 by Merle Coggins 1 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 in some neighborhoods lowering could be the ultimate loss of four wheels assemblies..no effort on your part whatsoever.. Quote
pflaming Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 I removed the next to the bottom leaf on all four springs. Truck came sown evenly nearly two inches. It made a big difference in driving, more of an on the road feeling and better corning. It is a lot of work, but well woth it to me. Quote
deathbound Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Where's the "dislike" button? 2 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 that button would lead to some hard feeling I would think..why it is not included as an option... Quote
The Oil Soup Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 You can also run a shorter jeep shackle on the back and flip the shackle. Drops it about 3". Quote
The Oil Soup Posted December 20, 2015 Report Posted December 20, 2015 Sids 3" dropped axle, reverse arc on the spring and remove next to the shortest leaf lowers the front about 6" Quote
