pflaming Posted September 21, 2015 Report Posted September 21, 2015 Researching this this morning. The safety switch is triggered by oil pressure or lack thereof. In an accident the engine 'should' die thus no oil pressure, thus the pump is shut down. Are there better ways? Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 21, 2015 Report Posted September 21, 2015 That should work fine, but you may also want to add a momentary "by-pass" switch for priming the carburetor when needed. Merle Quote
DJ194950 Posted September 21, 2015 Report Posted September 21, 2015 (edited) Your electric fuel pump could have a "wreck" inertia fuel shut off added to the pump power feed. Something like the attached. Do you still have the parts car t-bird? It probably has one in the trunk behind the side cardboard panel.?Ford Inertia Switch Fuel Pump Shut Off Fordtruck Mustang Taurus Ranger Explorer _ eBay.htm This attachment did not come out good. Plymouthy Adams Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 in addition to inertia switches..there are roll over valves...the inertial switch used by ford would be a very easy install as thy are mechanical and reset by had in a very simple and easy moanner.. Quote

Don Coatney Posted September 22, 2015 Report Posted September 22, 2015 Are any of them fire sensitive? Yes, I believe they will all quit working after they burn up. 2 Quote
