pflaming Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 (edited) Found this today on an off road. 1967??? Estimated value? I debated, for sale or . . . but this is only a find, did not buy it and did not contact the property owner, am not interested, yet I think this is the favorite and most difficult one to find. . Plymouthy Adams Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 would be a labor of love if you just had to have the car...lots of thing wrong and missing or damaged, grille, tail light buster windshield. knurly front valance...shredded tires so not a roller..other than rear quarter at light look so so in the rear...no pic of other side so that is up for grabs yet...not knowing the int(f)erior condition..it would have to be a V8 by vin to make it worth while in my opinion...had a V8 model same color way back in the day... doctor dirt Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 Poor lil thing, might be a 273 or 318 with a 8 1/4 or 8 3/4? Rear window would be very expensive. Doc Quote
Sharps40 Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 ... neat car. Maybe a forum member will be lucky and snap it up. Thanks Quote
Furylee2 Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 It's either a 64 or 65. They came with either a slant 6, or a 273. Picture is my sons 65 with a 273. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 5, 2015 Report Posted September 5, 2015 PP I think this is probably the least favorite and easiest one to find. Not that its not a good car but its not going to bring the money a third gen or even the second gen ones do. Quote
pflaming Posted September 5, 2015 Author Report Posted September 5, 2015 I read that this car preceded the mustang by a couple of weeks, but the mustang outsold it 8:1. Seems this was a valiant chassis with a fast back design. Quote

Young Ed Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 The mustang was just a Falcon chassis too. The first mustangs even had Falcon gauges. Quote
mattimuss Posted September 6, 2015 Report Posted September 6, 2015 Lee is correct, it's a first gen Barracuda, either a '64 or a '65, and they either came with a /6 or a 273 v8. The only ones to come with a 8 3/4 diff were the Formula S models, and this one doesn't seem to have the correct badging. Paul is also correct. These came out two weeks prior to the Mustang. All the car mags that tested the first gen Barracuda raved about it's performance and handling. It is my belief that the Mustang outsold the Barracuda 8:1 simply based on marketing. I have read that Ford put in 100 times more $$ in their marketing campaign of the Mustang than Plymouth put into the Barracuda. As far as how wanted/desired these are that's up to the individual. I will agree that '70-'74 E-body Barracudas and 'Cudas are the most sought after, and bring in the most $$ at Barrett-Jackson and Mecum. However, there is a dedicated group of people who love the first gen Barracudas. You can find them online at the Early Valiant Barracuda Club, or EVBC. I own a '65. Parts are very difficult to find.
