Guest gdaddypaul Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 Since finding an oil filter that actually fit in my '51 B3B has proved difficult, I'm considering a conversion. Anyone have a suggestion? Hate to do this to my otherwise (mostly) stock ride but protecting the engine is more important. TIA, folks! Quote

The salvage yard by me is full of them. Quote
Guest gdaddypaul Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 The filter. Actually have two canisters. Quote
Young Ed Posted July 31, 2015 Report Posted July 31, 2015 The filter. Actually have two canisters. Canister type or sock type? Both are available. I've heard a few guys having issues with some poorly made sock inserts. Quote
MBF Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 If you're not concerned with originality, there is an aftermarket bracket made that uses a spin on filter mounted remotely. Quote
NiftyFifty Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Really? Never found that anywhere before....do you have a link? Quote
Jerry Roberts Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Amazon has ; Remote oil filter mount wix 24755 and they also have wix filters 51050 ( 10 microns ) Quote
59bisquik Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) There are actually finned aluminum remotes that look more period correct by Moon and Hildebrand. That have a spin on filter inside of them. http://www.mooneyesusa.com/product-p/mpf200.htm Edited August 5, 2015 by 59bisquik Quote

I do not recall seeing any such filters in the 50's or 60's. Quote
wdoland Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 Bought mine like this and changed the oil filter a few times. Easy and quick. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted August 5, 2015 Report Posted August 5, 2015 a number of these products do date back to the era but today they are all just trying to capitalize on that by gone day and creating their own ideology of what was or was not period correct..flash across the ocean for the same era and you see another more realistic approach to adding on to the oil system....the installation of a oil cooler on about anything that rolled down the pavement.
