Sparky52Dodge Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 Is this advisable or should it be rebuilt with hardened seats etc. To handle today's fuel. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 who removed the hardened seats from the factory they are factory installed.. Quote
Sparky52Dodge Posted July 25, 2015 Author Report Posted July 25, 2015 Wasn't sure if they can handle the alcohol in the modern fuel. Quote

Plymouthy Adams Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 the rubber component of the fuel system take more of a hit from this blend than the engine.. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 I apologize in advance for my ignorance. Don't feel bad...I didn't know that at first either...I assumed this old didn't have hardened seats. Quote
TodFitch Posted July 25, 2015 Report Posted July 25, 2015 Seems like we need a wiki type permanent page for things like questions on gasoline. I concur with Plymouthy: Hardened seats from factory (no lead needed in the gas), modern additives are not kind to old (pre-1990s or so) rubber components in the fuel system. Ethanol is a solvent for the shellac that was used on cork floats (not sure if your '52 has any of those). 1 Quote
