furiousgeorge Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 While I figure out and wait for front end date parts, I've continued to strip the cab so it can be prepped and primed. All I've got left is glass. I need to get it off the frame since there's no way to move it as a unit (no front end or read axle). How heavy is the bare cab? I just need a rough idea of how many guys I need to bribe to help get it on a trailer. Quote
Jeff Balazs Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 3 to 4 guys should be able to handle the job if you have the steering column and the shifter out of the way. Jeff 1 Quote

Dave72dt Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 About half as many to take it off as you will need to put it back on after it's been painted. I've taken min e off and put on a half dozen times by myself with an engine hoist. 3 people to move from a trailer to the floor if needed, 2 could do it, Doors off help Quote
ebruns1 Posted July 23, 2015 Report Posted July 23, 2015 The first time I tried this was with a 4x4 post extended over the bucket on a bare 1940's International cab...worked perfectly. When I tried the same thing on this 1951 Dodge it still had both doors, all windows and fully loaded dash. Got it raised about 6" off my pickup truck bed when the 4x4 exploded. Luckily no damage to cab or pickup. Stripped the doors and went to a 4x6 on edge and everything went fine. Could have been worse...lesson learned! Quote
