Wayne67vert Posted June 29, 2015 Report Posted June 29, 2015 I just acquired a '52 Desoto Firedome. It's a 4 dr sedan with a V8 motor and what I think is 3 speed on the column. The car has been parked in a building since 1971. It came from North Dakota. The body is very solid with no rust issues. I haven't tried to turn the motor yet, I'm going to soak it with Kroil 1st and make sure it will rotate by hand. I'm looking forward to getting info and guidance as I undertake putting it back on the road. I don't know the rules about posting photos here, so some help is appreciated. Thanks, Wayne 1 Quote
Ulu Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) Photos of Plymouths are always welcome, flatheads are preferred & and P-15's are particularly welcome; but there are many DeSoto fans here too. As long as the photos are in good taste go ahead & post 'em! Edited June 30, 2015 by Ulu Quote
garbagestate 44 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 I always liked the styling of the 52 Desoto with that toothy grill. Best of luck with it and above all else, be patient in your efforts. Quote
Tatback Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Yes please post pictures, where in Florida are you? I bought a 48 Chrysler in May and had it shipped in from Kansas. I'm currently in the same boat as you and trying to get it back on the road Quote

Tatback Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Very cool picture. We're in West Palm, We actually just got home from Orlando. We had an extended weekend visiting the theme parks. Figured it was a nice break from working on the car every weekend since May. Quote
Howard Tarnoff Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 I am up the road from you in Port Orange. Hope to have my 49 on Canal Street Cruise in New Smyrna on July 11th Quote
Wayne67vert Posted June 30, 2015 Author Report Posted June 30, 2015 So tell me what P15-D24 represents. Where does my Desoto fit? Quote
TodFitch Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 So tell me what P15-D24 represents. Where does my Desoto fit? P15 is the engineering code for Plymouth cars built between 1946 and 1948 (and into early 1949). D24 is the engineering code for Dodge cars built in that same era. Quote

blue p15 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Wayne, I live in Titusville - not too far from you. I have a 47 Plymouth Special Deluxe and a 38 Chevy Master Towne Sedan. We'll have to get together sometime. Dogs R Us here in T'ville has a well-attended car show on the 4th Saturday of each month. Let me know if you can make it. Quote
38plymouth Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Welcome, I'm on merritt island. Didn't think there was anyone in my neck of the woods. I don't drive my car much this time of year, a black car in this heat is almost unbearable. Quote
