Oldguy48 Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 A search of the forum didn't provide an answer for me, so....has anyone done their own pinstriping of wheels? And if so, how did you do it? My P15 looks bone stock, from a short distance, except for the pinstriping on the wheels. The pinstriping would be a nice touch to the car, but I 'm not sure I can pull it off. If I can't get any pointers here, I've got the name and number of a local pinstriper, but I'd prefer to do it myself. If anyone can toss out some information here, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks. Wayne Quote
Mark Haymond Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 I paid an auto paint shop man to do my wheels. He said he had an assistant spin the wheel horizontally at table height, mounted on a bearing, while he applied the paint with a pin striping brush. Quote

Robert Horne Posted May 9, 2015 Report Posted May 9, 2015 (edited) When I paint my wheels, I plan on using my Uncle's gas tank cleaning machine for a turning table. Bob.. Edited May 9, 2015 by Robert Horne 2 Quote
Jeepnjay Posted May 10, 2015 Report Posted May 10, 2015 Get a 5 on 5 1/2 wheel bearing from the junkyard ford explorer works well, mount on bench. Make a brush holder arm and position at the point you want to stripe. Wet brush with desired color and turn wheel. Repeat on each wheel. Done! Quote
RobertKB Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 (edited) Just put pinstriping in the search box using this forum or forums and there is lots of information there, including one I started a while back. http://p15-d24.com/topic/25709-pinstriping-on-rims/?hl=pinstriping http://p15-d24.com/topic/27204-wheel-stripes/?hl=pinstriping#entry271644 Edited May 11, 2015 by RobertKB 1 Quote
chop Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Try a beugler wheel, you could probably do it without making a turntable. Quote
Merle Coggins Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Why not just leave it on the front hub and make an arm that attaches to the spindle nut? Quote
