Well you all know what a "Shotgun" Wedding is. Well, this is a "Shotgun"Build!

My wife got this 46 Special Deluxe 3 years ago as a 30th birthday gift from her dad. She wants to make it a daily driver. So I've been collecting parts and making plans but have been dragging my feet at the resto.

But we have plans to take a trip the last week in July from Maine to Wisconsin, and the wife asked if I might be able to have the Plymouth ready to drive for our trip.

Challenge Accepted!

This is just after we unloaded it.

So after moving it around for 3 years I've finally started in.

I've got a 276 Desoto hemi all fresh fom the machine shop, all done except putting valves back in.

Got an 8.8 rear axle from a 96 explorer with disks and 3.73 gears as well as the front disks.

Maybe a cavalier rack, but not sure yet.

Other than that, it's going to retain a mostly stock appearance. I run a welding/fab business and have an industrial sewing machine so it's mostly DIY.

So the race is on! Wish me luck and keep me motivated.

I started by removing the interior, carpet/mats, and door panels, so I could get a good look at what I have to deal with on the floor.

Previous owner tried to replace outer rockers without replacing the nonexistent inners and supports

After taking off the door panels, I saw plenty of bondo seeping in the bottom of the rear door skins.

I've got my work cut out for me!

I work best under a pressured deadline, otherwise I procrastinate on my own projects.

If it was a customers it would be done already.

Thanks fstfish, I'll do my best to keep you entertained. I need to dig it out of the snow and get it into the shop to continue progress.

This is the winter that won't end!

If you need to make room in the shop, you can send that Hydra Glide my way......

HaHa, Deathbound! Sorry, that's in my father in laws shop. It's his 76' FLH Liberty Edition, he's had it since new and has over 500k on the odometer. I love the old Shovelheads, I've got an 81'FXS.

Worth a try....you gotta have something with 2 wheels to mess around on once in a while, after being caged up on 4 wheels. I have a '62 FLH going on 20 years now. You have your work "cut out" for you on this one......and if you have trouble fittin 276 in there, I'd give it a whirl in my '38.....I know, it was worth a try.
