1940plymouth Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Has anyone ever heard of someone reprinting the owner's manuals for the 1940 Plymouth? Thanks, Bob Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 tons available on the e-bay choices from original in various states of wear to repops for less than 13.00 this stuff is everywhere... 1 Quote
1940plymouth Posted December 5, 2014 Author Report Posted December 5, 2014 (edited) Thanks Tim, are the repops the non colored ones? Edited December 5, 2014 by 1940plymouth Quote
DJ194950 Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Just make sure to read every word of an Ebay ad for these manuals, most of the very cheap ones turn out to be a cd copy of the Manual. Often this Small bit of info is almost hidden in the fine print. DJ Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 I agree a CD is not the way to go. I much prefer a hard copy. Quote
51cambridge Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 Amazon has some too. Same deal, make sure its not a cd Quote
48Dodger Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 When I hit the swap meets I buy up varies car manuals ......cuz you never know when you might do a swap or mod or whatever.... Just can't count on everything being on the net. lol 48D Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Beside E-bay/Amazon, the owners manual for these cars can be found by literature dealers at swap meets..often an original shows up but many are repops...I have never seen them on CD....not many cars of this age have a CD drive installed so you can check how to change a flat along side the road in 20 Mileout Anywhere US Quote
JerseyHarold Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 I've seen paper re-pops of the P23 owner's manual on eBay. They combine a 1951 and 1952 Plymouth manual into one. Not authentic at all and kind of cheesy in my opinion. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted December 13, 2014 Report Posted December 13, 2014 the 51 and 52 Plymouths are kinda cheesy in themselves being combined model year....I own both a 51 and a 52 Plymouth ..other than OD introduction in mid 52 not much was different except a bolt here or there, wiring location on firewall/cowl and dial graphics..want to have fun...try a 54 Plymouth manual...lots of changes were made there with no mention..hard to anticipate running changes when the books go to the printers so to be available to place with each newly made car on the start up of production... 1940plymouth Posted December 13, 2014 Author Report Posted December 13, 2014 This is why I asked about these manuals being reprinted. I figure the one on the right is an original because of the cover being in color Quote
DJ194950 Posted December 14, 2014 Report Posted December 14, 2014 In some cases I'd prefer the reprint if done on good quality heavy paper if it's some you will look at often (to withstand the regular use) instead of a collector piece to go with your car. Your choice and money. Happy hunting! DJ Quote
