Has anyone grafted early c series (54-56)  front fender openings to a B4B? They would match the existing rear fenders and help with the half in the future, half in the past look of that transitional year. Is it doable? The overall shape of the c and b fenders seems very similar.

I've seen the rears on the earlier trucks, but never looked close enough to see if it was just a complete box change or ? Only one way to find out if something works....keep us posted

Ok-I'll jump in.  I don't think it would be possible w/o a ton of work.  The front edge of the door will not line up with the newer fenders, and if you use the newer fenders, you'd probably end up using the entire nose including the hood which I bet will not be the same shape as the PH cowl.  Anything can be made to fit anything else, but at what cost?  I remember seeing a movie FANDANGO about a road trip in an early 60's Caddy.  They had an accident, and grafted the nose of a 50's IH truck on it.

Cripes, a 51 hood won't even fit the 48-50, no way would it work with the other fenders I'm sure, but I am a fan of custom...that's the road I'm headed down

As long as you're just using the wheel well opening and not the entire fender, I'd think it's doable.  Just a big patch panel is all it is.

It wouldn't be proper to do that.

I'm hoping to use just the wheel well openings and perhaps the leading edge of the fenders. This guy went the other direction and changed the rear wheel well openings.  post-6059-0-75304400-1408075617_thumb.jpg This was on the HAMB

I understand the concept. You want to add the fender opening of the 54 to your 53 to give it a "matched" look.

It's my opinion that Dodge should have started using the square rear fender on the 1954 C Series, and NOT on the 1953 B Series.

But in the long run it still looks great.

This is my photo eassy on the 51/52 to the 54 fender transition.

I guess I got a Frankenstein then. Front is '53, rear looks '54 but note how the front of the rear fender doesn't square off so it can be attached to the running board. Now I'm not sure where that fender really comes from.

I prefer the 52 fenders to the square fenders which then were used for a number of years. The blue truck from the HAMB is possilby the worst looking truck I'm seen, which is just my opinion.

Fenders are correct.....your running boards are the longer ones for the round rear fender type.

Previous owner (PO) must have had them on hand so he trimmed them to fit. When I bought my

48 B1B, it had the same thing, 53 fenders with cut up running boards.

Honestly, if they are trimmed well and fastened well.....I think it looks fine.

Mine had been snot welded and put back to work in the vineyards.....

And it looks like the front fenders came off a larger truck based on the long curvature of the opening and the large flare.

I think that's an optical illusion William. Those are 15" in the front. Rears are 16".

Maybe that's a trick worth thinking about "Oil Soup Can"

Those front fenders have been modified. Very ugly looking to me. But I'm not 30 anymore.
