ledfootslim Posted July 9, 2014 Report Posted July 9, 2014 (edited) My MoTors manual says .020, but I have seen other sources saying from eighteen to twenty two. I have my 236 set at the prescribed twenty. Oops, didn't see you'd already answered him Don.......just disregard my babbles! :-) Edited July 9, 2014 by ledfootslim Quote
Conroe Powdercoating Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 (edited) I've always set them at .018, but I dont have a manual, guess ill get em set to .020. I remember when I was a wee lad, an old dude told me to take the old point set apart that your replacing and use the flat strap metal as a feeler, usually its around 18 he said. Phil363 Posted July 10, 2014 Report Posted July 10, 2014 I also have a 1952 B-3-B 218ci pickup and my Driver's Manual (copy of orginal) says .020in just as Don did above. Also had to remember that this model is a normally a 6 volt positive ground system unless it has been converted to a 12 volt system. When I had mine picked up the last owner had the (-) battery post grounded to the transmisison and the positive to the starter .. which was wrong. The small wire going to the distributor was the tell tale sign it was wrong. As if the distro wire connects to the (+) connector on the coil it is a positive ground. Which it was on my vehicle. Quote
