fstfish66 Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 nice that you could find some one to make the suppport,,, Quote
casper50 Posted November 6, 2015 Author Report Posted November 6, 2015 (edited) The support is in. Had to make a few adjustments on it. And still need to do some fill welding. Rust replacement on the body is done. Now on to the doors and rear fenders. Edited November 6, 2015 by casper50 1 Quote

falconvan Posted November 7, 2015 Report Posted November 7, 2015 (edited) Haven't checked in on this in a while; excellent job! Great job finding that last brace; I had to make one but it doesn't look near as nice as the original. Edited November 7, 2015 by falconvan Quote
casper50 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Report Posted November 7, 2015 The guy that makes the brace is the one making Plymouth Doctor's stuff. I figure why pay PD to be a middle man. 1 Quote

casper50 Posted November 23, 2015 Author Report Posted November 23, 2015 Did some surgery today. I only removed the outside skin on the original. I wanted to use what was left of the inside to get the new skin in the correct place. Once the skin is fully welded I will then cut the inside and use the newly replaced outside to get the correct placement and cut. Donor parts making the cuts off with it's head, or bottom as the case may be. tacked in. short 9 sec vid of the curvature. Quite happy with that. 4 Quote
jcmiller Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 Billy Gibbons sounds quite happy with it too. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 24, 2015 Report Posted November 24, 2015 That's some excellent work. Wish I could do that. Quote
casper50 Posted November 24, 2015 Author Report Posted November 24, 2015 (edited) Niel, until I started this coupe I had done zero cancer exorcism. No previous metal experience. I just take my time, measure 3 to 4 times, remeasure, make an offering to the metal gods and cut, then weld. Seems to work out. One just has to take the first step and "get er done". jcmiller Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 It's very encouraging to hear that. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted November 25, 2015 Report Posted November 25, 2015 I guess I'm just not that brave. Yet. Maybe I should work on something I don't care much about. Does the background music help make better welds? Quote
casper50 Posted November 25, 2015 Author Report Posted November 25, 2015 it helps the time go by. Sometimes hours go by without me even looking at a clock. Quote
casper50 Posted November 27, 2015 Author Report Posted November 27, 2015 Ran out of welding wire last night so I decided to sandblast the trunk lid. Noticed two odd things about it. No primer under the paint on the inside and the inside sides are strangely different. one has the side ridge that goes all the way from bottom to top and the other side has about 1 foot in the middle without it. See photo. Quote
casper50 Posted November 27, 2015 Author Report Posted November 27, 2015 It's the correct side for it. Quote
casper50 Posted December 4, 2015 Author Report Posted December 4, 2015 One more piece of the puzzle done and test fit. Quote
casper50 Posted December 9, 2015 Author Report Posted December 9, 2015 Another piece of the puzzle. 2 Quote
casper50 Posted December 11, 2015 Author Report Posted December 11, 2015 (edited) Started stripping the right front fender tonight. I never paid much attention to the front fenders as about all that I could see when I got it was the huge holes in the sides. Anyway, some rust on this one also. Both front and rear bottoms are rusted out. Seems to be an old patch on the rear towards the bottom see last photo. It's leaded but looks as if it was slapped on top of the fender and then leaded. jcmiller Posted December 11, 2015 Report Posted December 11, 2015 Was it green originally? It looks like a nice color where the light housing was. Quote
casper50 Posted December 11, 2015 Author Report Posted December 11, 2015 Yes it was dark green. And I'm going back with a very dark green but not close to original. One more piece ready for final body work. Hopefully after the front fenders I have no more rust to replace. It's getting really old. 1 Quote
knuckleharley Posted December 14, 2015 Report Posted December 14, 2015 A little more progress. BTW,what brand and type of primer and top coat did you use to paint the chassis and suspension? Quote
