Grdpa's 50 Dodge Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 that is a good one. Everyone getting a drivers license should be required to read. Quote
RobertKB Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 Holy crap. Hard to believe. However, I taught with a guy who had a brother high up in the banking business. Brother phoned and asked how long does it take to add a quart of oil. He had already been at it for 15 minutes and was not finished. After asking a few questions, it turns out the brother was adding the oil down the dipstick tube, not the filler cap. True story. Strange things do happen. It pays to take an automotive class sometime in your life if you are not familiar with cars. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 9, 2013 Report Posted December 9, 2013 What a HOOT! Everytime I see or hear a commercial from one of the bubble pack auto part stores about the benefits of changing your own oil I envision exactly what happened by a novice who elects to do this. I am surprised that the idiot who did this did not blow every gasket in his engine. Thanks for sharing. Quote
Grdpa's 50 Dodge Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 Best story I heard of similar nature. Remember I do work at Autozone for what thats worth(not a lot) true story---this guy comes in with a grease gun tip split end to end(think he was trying to warranty it,,,not sure) . He was asked how that happened. I was greasing my alipers and put alot of pressure on it I guess. He was SOOOOO desperate to find places to grease on his car he opened the bleeder valves on his front calipers and filled them so full of grease he split the tip. After being told that isnt the proper way to do that he says oh yes been doing it for years that way(and how did that work out we wonder) Also same guy same convo with someone TRYING to help him and says did he grease the caliper pins,,,,Response- "Oh yes and both sides of the brake pads so they dont squeak. ALL four pad faces,,,,how did that make the brakes preform???? When I heard that one It must have hit my funny bone,,,cause I laughed about that for days and weeks later. Course those customers werent the brightest bulbs in the box,,,the store I 'used' to work at was parked on the edge of the ghetto. They drive so goofy there some change their brake pads every few months. Where I moved to is VERY laid back and so not like that,,,more 80 year old drivers and slow pokes driving 5 or 10 UNDER the limit cause they can. 1 Quote
48Dodger Posted December 10, 2013 Report Posted December 10, 2013 (edited) I'm surrounded by BMW owners at work.......so I am not surprised to see this on a Beamer site. Not saying they are the only ones....oh, no, no....I just have my fair share of dealings with them. Best story: I work nights in the Emergency room. Radiology. I get a frantic cell call "DUDE! I was putting oil in the car (bmw) with the engine running and I dropped the oil cap into the engine! it fell under the car....the engines still running! what should I do???" i said " Get in the car....put it in reverse... back up..." he hung up on me..lol. He hates it when I tell that story. 48D Edited December 10, 2013 by 48dodger 2 Quote
