Hello,

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.  My name is Ryan,  I am from Duluth MN.  Last year I picked up a rust free original 1949 Windsor Club Coupe in Chicago and recently completely redid the suspension, brakes, engine, cleaned up the old Fluid Drive and put brand new Cokers on it.  So far this summer we have about 500 miles on it and are loving it!!  I have restored several cars from the late 60's and 70's but never one this old.  I have been extremely impressed on what a nice car this is,  it is quiet, runs great, has plenty of power, rides like a dream at 60mph and I like the fluid drive!  I have read the forums and have gotten plenty of information while I was building my car, I do all my own work and would love to share what I have learnt so far on this project.

It is nice to hear a fresh face that has something good to say about the 49-52 Chrysler products.  Like you I like the fluid drive despite what it does to the acceleration off the line.  The cars were well built mechanically and are comfortable to ride in. My Dad's 49 New Yorker (bought in 1953 - sold in 1959) is a large part of the reason for my attachment to these cars.  I just wish I had the energy to do all the work you have done to your car.

That is a beautiful car and lucky to have an owner like you. Obviuosly you know what you are doing and you have a great car to work with.  I have been to Duluth many times and trust that you have perfectly performing brakes as all the streets lead downhill to Lake Superior!  Really nice work on a really nice car!

Welcome to the group, Ryan, and congrats on the sweet ride! She looks fabulous.

I joined a couple of months ago with nothing but questions. After weeks of receiving fantastic free advice from these great members, I also bought a 1949 Windsor Club Coupe about three weeks ago.

Unlike yours, mine is minus engine and transmission. And not nearly so pretty, although for a 64-year-old it isn't bad.

I picked up a built 360 and 727 at an auction last weekend, but every time I see pictures of splendid sixes like yours I have a twinge of regret.

Again, welcome to the forum and I hope to see and read more about your car!

Thank you everyone for the welcome.

@ Greg G,  unfortunitly I do not think I will be able to make it down early enough Sat for that show.  I would possibly like to run down Sunday for Car Craft or that new Kandy Khrome show at Treasure Island casino.  Otherwise I want to make next weekends show in Grand Rapids MN.  The Windsor has the fluid drive with the semi automatic behind it and it works great!!
