Ohio Area Forum Member Meet

Recommended Posts

A couple of us on here have decided to set aside May 27th (Memorial Day) 2013 to try and meet up at a car show in Mount Victory, Ohio. We are planning on meeting around 9:00am and the show normally runs until 2 or 3 pm so plan accordingly. The car show is pretty calm normally with around 75 cars depending on weather. It just a nice time to talk with others. No trophies or anything. This is a one day meet. There are antique shops in town to walk through and restaurants.

It would be nice to get a few people coming to this so if you are within range, dust your car/truck off, get a good nights rest the night before, and drive to the show! Lets try to get a decent group going! The more the better.

Now we just need to hope for good weather...

Post a reply to help figure out how many are interested in coming.

Suggest we connect in Lima. Perhaps at 75 and rt 117. Take 117 to 243 (I think that is the correct route) and caravan to the show. I just got this PM from Larry Wood.

Hi Don,

That's about an hour and a half away,  I will mark my calendar and, as long as the weather is decent, will plan to attend.  It would be good to see you and catch up.

I now live in Centerburg Ohio.  It is up Route 3 from Columbus, half way between Sunbury and Mt. Vernon. I live in the country with my daughter and family and have a much better place to work on and store stuff.  The last couple of years I have been doing quite a bit with motorcycles, not so much with the Dodge.

If you are going to be in Central Ohio sometime, I would like to have you over to my place.

Hopefully see you in May.

Larry

And this from Niel Hoback.

Doesn't look like it as of now.  50th Anniversary this summer so travel plans are not really up to me.  First trip will be to Virginia in April, then the trip around the great lakes and out to Yellowstone and back after that, dates unknown. I have put in my request for Ohio since its not real far and only a two or three day event for us.  Fingers crossed, but no promises.

Any others in the area you know about?

Sounds like fun but I can not attend. I am going to meet my newest Grandson in California. Anyone get in touch with Frank Blackstonee?

I sent Frank a note but no response yet

From Frank

Don I thought that Mt. Victory sounded familiar. I spent the best years of my life in ADA at Ohio Norther University. It is within my driving range so there is a good chance I can make it. Thanks for the heads up.  Frank

Back to the top again. 32 days to go. Started preping my pilgrum for the trip.De-mothballed her, de-cobwebber her, polished her, checked all fluids (no need to top off as nothing was low except the gas), checked carb sync (good to go) checked timing (good to go) slight idle speed adjustment, adjusted tire air pressure, and rain-exed winshield. looking forward to the trip.

Looks good!

My dad and I have been getting the 41 ready as well. We took the tail lights out and painted the body white in those areas. We also trouble shot why his turn directional were dim and it turned into the flasher can being bad. We re-wired the tail lights too and improved the sockets. With the painted body, new bulbs, replaced flasher can and re-freshened wiring, those lights are brighter than ever. Now we are going to rebuild the rear wheel cylinders and adjust the rear brakes. Should be good to go for the show in one month!

I am looking forward to the event. I hope the weather is good! I have unfortunately been doing everything else but messing with the Plymouth. We took it for a drive the other day, but it needs some attention here and there.

A little less than 2 weeks to go! My dad and I (mainly my dad) are working to get the Desoto ready for the show. Should have no problem getting done by then. We finished everything up from the last post, but decided to tackle the front main seal as well. Once we got the timing cover off, it was clear to see it was time for a new timing set. So after two weeks, a new timing set, a speedi sleeve, a new seal, and lots of time, than project is done. Right now my dad is putting new axle seals in the rear. That should be done tomorrow. The car has been darn near 100% gone through again mechanically now, so it should be good to go.

Here are two pictures from the past week. The front clip is back on again now.

Looks like we lucked out on the weather. They are talking 75 degrees and mainly sunny! Should be a nice day to get the cars out. I hope to meet some of you there! 4 days and counting!

Hello All,

I am planning to attend and am looking forward to meeting all of you.  Got the Dodge out of mothballs today for a short shakedown run and all seems well.

Is there anyplace particular you plan on meeting or just arrive at the meet and hook up as we can?

See you Monday.

Larry

I'm not entirely familiar with the area to know a good place to meet up. It would be nice to try and park with each other at the show. Maybe DCurrent knows a good place we could meet at around 9:00am that is near the show area?

Hello all,

The weather is going to be great! 70- 75 degrees and just a very slight chance of a pop up shower. The wife and I still plan to be there. She is going to take her mint green 57 Buick and I'll have the black 48 Plymouth convertible.

It's hard to pick a spot for all to park together. It's generally a first come first serve with spots to park. I'm not sure if I can reserve a few spots or not, but I'll give it a shot. I really don't think we will have a hard time finding everyone. I'm trying to think of a good meeting spot though. They have a gazebo where the band played last year, but I didn't pay much attention to the block. You can't miss it! It's right off the main drag through town whether your going east to west or north to south. We could meet their at 9 am.

If you make the show be sure to check out the restored gas station just north of town on  state route 31.

Darren
