JIPJOBXX Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Is there a place I can just buy the gaskets that cover the access covers to the intake and exhaust valves adjustments or do I haft to buy a head gasket also?? This little weeks program will be to do a pressure test on my engine to see if I have a an exhaust valve or intake valve causing my miss. This is a big job and I hope that my test will get me past the valve area as being a culprit. Quote
Young Ed Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Yes you need a valve adjustment set. FelPro FPG VS4253R Edited December 4, 2012 by Young Ed Quote

dezeldoc Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Sounds like you are wanting to do a leak down test, if that is the case you do not need to take the valve covers off. the way it works is you bring the cylinder to top dead center and screw the adapter in and hook your compressed air and listen for air escaping from the carb(intake valve leak) tailpipe(exhaust valve leak) breather(bad rings) and that is how it is done. my leak down kit also has 2 gauges to read incoming air pressure and also one for how much loss in the cylinder. but the answer to your question is yes they sell them separately from a valve set. TodFitch Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 ... and usually an overnight order from Napa or your local auto parts store.Search string for ebay = "Plymouth Valve Cover Gaskets 201 218 230" I wouldn't be surprised that if I called my "local better auto supply" right now that an item like that would be available for me to pick up either today at lunch or on the way home tonight. Overnight would be pessimistic for me. On the other hand, I've got cork gasket stock at home and those gaskets are probably the easiest ones in the world to make. Again, no reason to wait for overnight much less ePay. Quote
40plyrod Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 I just phoned our local part supply yesterday to ask about the availability of a complete gasket set and they told me that they had one sitting on the shelf. Kinda funny though I waited 3 days for a altenator belt for my wifes 05 pt cruiser. Quote
